Since making the NBA Draft as the 51st overall pick in 2003, Kyle Korver has risen as a very important player in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Before joining the club, he has as well played for a few others since his selection by the New Jersey Jets. Here is all you need to know about him.

Kyle Korver’s Bio

The NBA Star was born Kyle Elliot Korver on March 17, 1981, in Paramount, California. He was raised in a Christian family by a father who is a pastor and his grandfather is also a pastor. He grew up as the eldest child in a family with three other siblings.

Although it was in Los Angeles that he was raised, his family later moved to Iowa. While growing up in LA, Kyle had wanted to be a basketball player, having followed the Los Angeles Lakers as a fan and watched people like Magic Johnson.

He has his education from Pella High School in Iowa and after he graduated, he moved to the Creighton University where he played for the Creighton Bluejays men’s basketball team.

Professional Career

He began as a professional basketball player after he made it as the 51st pick in the NBA Draft of 2003 by the New Jersey Nets, but he was soon to be traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. Having signed a deal that would only keep him with the 76ers for 2 years, he signed another in 2005 which was worth $25 million.

His NBA career would see him playing for other teams such as the Utah Jazz from 2007 to 2010, Chicago Bulls from 2010 to 2012, and Atlanta Hawks from 2012 to 2017. It was from here that he moved to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Having spent 12 seasons in the NBA, Kyle Korver made his first National Basketball Association All-Star in 2015. In the same year, he won the NBA Sportsmanship Award (2015). His records in the NBA include the highest three-point shooting percentage recorded in a season and he recorded the same feat for the 76ers.

Korver is married to American singer Juliet Richardson who is more popular as Juliet. Just like her husband, she was raised in a Christian family where Rock music for which she would later be popular for was prohibited. At first, she set out to become a model before moving on to music where she met fame with the Band 1 Plus 1.

The basketballer and his wife got married in 2011. As pointed out, both grew up in religious homes as such, it is no surprise that they met in the church after a pastor introduced them. Their marriage has been blessed with 3 children thus far. The first child, Kyra Elyse was born in 2012 and the next, a son, Knox Korver was born in 2014. The last child, also a son named Koen Korver was born in 2016.

According to the basketballer, his wife has given him focus and she has remained his source of strength.

Although many good things have happened in his life, he has also seen tragedy. This came with the death of his younger brother, Kirk Korver. The youngest of the 4 brothers, Kirk who had also played college basketball at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) died at the age of 27 in 2018. His death came after an illness.

Just as it is with many others playing in the NBA and in fact those pursuing a career in the game of basketball, Kyle Korver has an impressive height and body weight. More so, he is athletically well built to survive in the court and in many other sports if he had chosen to.

As regards to his height, the Cavaliers shooting guard has a height that measures at 6 ft 7 in (2.01 m) and a body weight that is said to be 211 lbs (96 kg).

Having played for more than 10 seasons in the NBA, for five different clubs, it is only right to expect that Kyle should have a befitting net worth. Well, he does. His net worth has been estimated at $18 million, however, some sources place it at more while others say it’s $13 million.

That stated, based on his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers which is for 3 years and expected to run till the 2019/2020 season, he is earning a salary of $7 million. His final season will have him take home a base salary of $7,500,000.
