Kyle Juszczyk is a former Harvard University standout tight end who now plays in the National Football League for the San Francisco 49ers. Kyle Juszczyk was born Kyle Patrick Juszczyk on the 23rd of April, 1991, in the city of Medina, Ohio. From a young age, Juszczyk was a stand out among his peers when it came down to sports. He earned six letters in three sports while he was attending Cloverleaf High School located in the nearby village of Lodi, Ohio.
In basketball, Juszczyk played the point guard position as he also competed in the track & field team, majorly in throwing events. Despite his achievements in those sports, his heart lay with football where he was captain of the Cloverleaf Colts football team for two years. He was very versatile in the team as he could play in a number of positions. He put in various outstanding performances one of which was leading his team in both rushing and receiving yards as a senior which earned him a two first team All-Suburban League and All-medina County selections.
Juszczyk’s commitments to sports did not hamper his academics as he was a member of the National Honor Society and the Ohio Math League. After graduating, he committed to attend Ivy League school, Harvard University, where he would play for the Harvard Crimson football team. In his first season, 2009, he played in all 10 games for the school, recording 11 catches for 124 yards and 3 touchdowns. In 2010, he recorded 25 receptions for 234 yards and a team-high 4 touchdowns which earned him an honorable mention on the All-Ivy League selection. For the 2011 season, he recorded 37 receptions for 512 yards and 7 touchdowns. In his final collegiate season, he had 52 receptions for 706 yards and 8 touchdowns. By the end of his Crimson career, he was a two-time All-American selection and a three-time All-Ivy League selection.
After graduating, despite not being invited to that year’s NFL Combine, he was drafted in the 2013 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens in the fourth round with the 130th overall pick and the rest became history.
Kyle Juszczyk signed his first professional football contract with the Ravens which was worth $2.46 million with a signing bonus of $300,574 and would last for four years. He played with the Purple Pain team beginning in 2013 through 2016 before he entered free agency at the end of his contract. The San Francisco 49ers came calling for his services on March 9, 2017, with a four-year contract worth $21 million which had $5 million as signing bonus and $7 million as guaranteed in the total sum.
