On 15 November 2018, the entertainment world was left in shock after the mysterious death of Kim Porter. She was an actress and a model who was more popular for her relationship with American music mogul, P Diddy. Although their relationship ended many years ago, the two remained friends until the death of the former model.

Who Was Kim Porter?

Kim Porter was born on December 16, 1971, in Columbus, Georgia. While not much is known about her early life, it is known that she went to Columbus High School from where she graduated in 1988.

When she was young, her dream was to become a model, something she started even before moving to Atlanta after her graduation to pursue it on a bigger stage. Apart from modeling, Porter was also an actress who appeared in the 2001 movie, The Brothers. She also appeared in Wicked Wicked Games (2007), and some reality TV shows such as The Hollywood Story (2006) and I Want to Work for Diddy (2008).

Also, she founded Ultra-Tainment firm known as “3 Brown Girls”. The company which was somewhat popular in Atlanta was co-founded with Eboni Electra and Nicole Johnson.

Although it is with Diddy that Kim Porters would come to be known, he was not the first man in her life. In 1989, she got married to American R&B record producer and actor, Al B. Sure! with whom she had her first son, Quincy Jones in 1991. Unfortunately, the two ended their union in 1990 even before their son was born.

P Diddy is one man that is known to have had many relationships thus far, however, one that may be placed above all others is his relationship with Kim Porter.

The first time the singer saw her, he was working at Uptown Records as an A&R executive. Kim came to the studio with her ex-boyfriend but Diddy fell for her immediately wishing he had a girl like her. As things would turn out, he later had her and they started dating in 1994. At the time, her son was 3 years old.

While the relationship lasted until 2007, it wasn’t one without its problems as they broke up several times before finding their ways together. One of such breakups came in 2002 when Porter went on to sue Sean Diddy Combs requesting for more child support. However, before too long, the pair were in each other’s arms again.

When she was pregnant with their set of twins in 2006, Kim found out that Diddy had impregnated someone else outside their relationship. Five months before she gave birth to their twins, the other woman, Sarah Chapman, gave birth to Combs daughter, Chance Combs. Kim Porter felt betrayed that he cheated on her, but was hugely disappointed that he did not man up to tell her what happened before she found it out on her own. Although he would later tell her, it was already too late for her.

Knowing that Diddy was a man of more words than actions, she decided to get back to him through actions and not words because she knew if she told him she was leaving, he was never going to let it happen. And so when he was out of town, she left him taking everything with her including the cars and nursery furniture.

Despite the breakup which Kim Porter said she wanted to be dramatic, the two remained very close as friends. In fact, the very next year after they broke up, the singer threw a big birthday party for her. Even though Combs has gone on to date various other women since they ended their relationship, he still found time to go out and celebrate different things with Kim.

As a couple, Diddy and Kim have three children together, Christian Casey Combs who was born in 1998 as well as Jessie James Combs and D’Lila Star Combs who were born in 2006. More so, Combs also sees Quincy Jones as his son.
