Kavan Smith Bio (Age)

Kavan Smith was born Kavan Joel Smith on the 6th of May, 1970, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. His father’s name is unknown but his mother’s name is June Hawk. Smith’s parents divorced at an early age. Following their decision to part ways, he and his brother were raised by their father.

As a young boy, Smith got involved in various sports, from football to martial arts, which he all excelled in. He was said to have also had a knack for performing, which he often did with a friend. As the story goes, Smith would usually choose to skip school in order to record and rehearse his performings which he and his friend would go on to perform in public places such as the bus stop or shopping center.

After graduating from high school, Kavan Smith enrolled at the University of Calgary to study Economics. As things would pan out, he only managed to spend about a year and a half in the program before dropping out to study something that was related to his passion, although he reportedly spent about a year trying to figure things out. Mount Royal University’s performing arts program proved to be the next destination for Smith as he went on to learn more about stage performing while also developing a love for books and writing along the way.

Soon after graduating from Mount Royal, Smith made his acting debut in the Canadian television show, Destiny Ridge (1993), where he played the lead role of Clay Roberts. Throughout the 90s, he appeared in various Canadian television shows like The Sentinel (1996), The Outer Limits (1996, 1998), and The Crow: Stairway to Heaven (1999) among many others. In the 2000s, Smith was able to land roles in American television shows like Night Visions (2001), Smallville (2002), Stargate SG-1 (2003), where he appeared in two episodes, and Stargate Atlantis (2005-09) where he played the recurring role of Major Evan Lorne. Other recurring roles he had in that time include that of Deputy Andy in Eureka (2010-12), Zach in Godiva’s (2005-06), and Jed Garrity in The 4400 (2005-07).

In recent time, Kavan Smith has appeared in the police drama series Rogue (2013-14), the dark fantasy series Supernatural (2014-15), the soap opera Mistresses (2015), and the drama When Calls the Heart (2015-present). In 2017, Smith appeared in the Hallmark film The Perfect Bride. A year later, he reprised his role of Nick Dyson in the sequel, The Perfect Bride: Wedding Bells (2018).

There are conflicting reports in regards to the marital status of Kavan Smith. A few publications have said that the Stargate Atlantis actor is single while others point out that he is indeed married but chooses to keep his personal life very private, hence the reason why almost nothing is known about his wife.

As pictured above, many publications have confused Smith’s co-star on Hallmark’s The Perfect Bride, Pascale Hutton, to be his supposed wife. This is not true as Hutton is herself married to actor Danny Dorosh. The pair wedded in 2002 and together have two sons. Undoubtedly, Smith and Hutton have awesome screen chemistry and are also said to be very good friends away from work. They have also happened to have appeared together in a number of shows, such as Smallville, Sanctuary, Flashpoint, When Calls the Heart, among many others. This has further fueled speculations about them being lovers which are false.
