Kathleen Quinlan is an actress who has come to be known more for her TV roles than for her films. Having started her career in 1973 when she was 19 years old, she has appeared in close to one hundred films and TV shows and has earned a couple of Academy awards in the process. Some of her most popular appearances include I Never Promised You a Rose Garden, Appollo 13, and Prison Break.

It was on November 19, 1954, that the American actress was born as Kathleen Denise Quinlan in Pasadena, California, U.S. She was brought up in Mill Valley, California, by her parents Robert Quinlan who was a television sports director and Josephine Quinlan who worked as a military supply supervisor.

Although according to her she was born an actor, she did not realize that very early in her life. Nonetheless, it was something that she had always loved.

For her education, she went to Tamalpais High School in California. While she was there, she got involved in gymnastics as well as diving. She also got the opportunity to start her career as an actress when she was there. She studied drama in the school and when the famous filmmaker George Lucas came to cast for his 1973 film, American Graffiti, she made the cut and got her first role as an actress.

Her next role as a film actress came in 1976 when she appeared as Wendy in the film Lifeguard. In 1977, she was in Airport ’77 and then I Never Promised You a Rose Garden. In 1979, she was in The Promise and The Runner Stumbles.

In the years that followed, she appeared in more films including Hanky Panky 1982, Independence Day (1983), The Doors (1991), Trial By Jury (1994), Apollo 13 (1995), The Battle of Shaker Heights (2003), The Hills Have Eyes (2006), and Elektra Luxx (2010). Her most recent appearances are in the 2017 films Elizabeth Blue, Parallel, and ADDicted and then the 2018 film Chimera.

In 1973, Kathleen Quinlan made her debut film appearance in Emergency!, followed by the 1974 TV productions; Owen Marshall: Counselor at Law, Can Ellen Be Saved?, Police Woman, Where Have All the People Gone? and Lucas Tanner among others. She went on to appear in many other TV shows including Little Ladies of the Night (1977), She’s in the Army Now (1981), Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1986), An American Story (1992), Too Rich: The Secret Life of Doris Duke (1999), and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (2007). Her most recent appearances on TV are in How Not to Propose (2015) and Marvel’s Runaways (2018).

She got a Golden Globe nomination for her role in Apollo 13 as well as an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

After she gave birth to her child, she revealed that although she had an agent who was very ambitious for her, she found it hard going to chase roles as she preferred to stay at home and play with her kid and work in her garden.
