It’s easier for children to tow the line of their parents when choosing a career path. For Kate Hudson, opting for a career in entertainment was an easy decision because of her family history and background.
Kate Hudson was born on the 19th of April 1979. She is an American businesswoman and actress. Kate was born in Los Angeles, California and she is the daughter of Academy Award-winning actress Goldie Hawn and comedian, Bill Hudson. Her parents did get separated when Kate was just 18 months old. She and her older brother Oliver Hudson were raised by her mother and her longtime boyfriend Kurt Russell who is also an actor from Snowmass, Colorado.
It is also important to note that Kate has an estranged relationship with her biological father and considers Russell more of a father. Her biological father in his defense claims to have made numerous efforts to reconnect with Kate and her brother but it was never reciprocated.
In direct contrast, she has described her mother as the one she learned a great deal from and was the person she looked up to due to the manner she conducted herself. Kate graduated in 1997 from a college prep school in Santa Monica called Crossroads. She was then accepted to New York University, but she opted to pursue an acting career instead of an undergraduate degree.
Kate Hudson got her first film role in 1998 with two movies first a comedy-drama – The Desert Blue and Ricochet River. She then appeared in the 1999 New Year’s Eve set comedy ensemble 200 Cigarettes and the teenage drama, Gossip. She, early on, noted that she was a hard worker and wanted to be far away from her parent’s stardom to become her own star.
Her breakthrough role came when she was given the role as Penny Lane in Cameron Crowe’s Almost Famous in 2000. This gave her the platform to win the Golden Globe Award for best supporting actress and was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She has also starred in Fool’s Gold, Raising Helen, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, The Skeleton Key, You, Me and Dupree, Bride Wars, Nine, Deepwater Horizon, among others.
In 2013, Hudson began a partnership with online fashion retailer JustFab which she used to launch her own line and active wear called Fable tics. And in 2016, she released her book titled, Pretty Happy: Healthy Ways to Love Your Body.

The divorce was completed and finalized on 22nd of October 2007 and Hudson was also granted shared custody of their son. She later began dating Muse frontman Matt Bellamy in early 2010. The couple got engaged in April of 2011 and had a son together. But their love story took a negative turn when it was reported on the 9th of December 2014 that their engagement had been called off.
