It is no more news that even after making a respectable $658 million in Box office returns worldwide, Justice League is still a disappointment below the expectations of Warner Bros most especially after it hit over $10 million under 2013’s Man of Steel that began the franchise. The good news is that even with the unexpected outcome of the superhero film, fans will get to see Justice League 2. Inasmuch as the release date of the film is still far away, fans of the franchise are optimistic that it will be worth the wait in every way. In view of the above, let’s take a look at the Justice League 2 cast members as well as a few other things fans should be expecting in the next release.
Who Will Make the Cast of Justice League 2?
As stated, we do not know when the next film in the franchise will be released, however, whenever it comes, there are familiar faces that we expect to see returning to continue what they have started.
1. Henry Cavill as Superman?
Obviously, the next film in the series is going to have the return of Superman as portrayed by Henry Cavill. However, there have been talks that the role may be up in the air in the DCEU. Considering the fact that in recent years, Superman films have not been doing so well, there are words that Warner Bros. is looking to see what will happen with the person of Superman in the coming film.
There is no doubt that having the superhero as one of Justice League 2 cast members will be a good thing for the film, but that will only remain to be seen.
The second of the cast members that we are sure to see their return is Batman, but what remains unknown is whether Ben Affleck will return to play the role. Before now, he was working on a Batman film which he was expected to write, direct, and be a part of. However, things did not turn out as expected and the idea was swept away.
Now, his return to the franchise still remains very uncertain. If he is not making it back, a name has not been given for his replacement, however, there is no reason not to believe that whoever takes over will be worth it.
The rumor is that Jake Gyllenhaal may be the one to take over from Affleck, although it doesn’t seem like he will be interested in taking the role. The actor of The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Armie Hammer is another name that has been strongly thrown in to take the role. If Ben is not appearing, Hammer may just be the person that Warner Bros. will work with. However, we just have to wait to see.
3. Other cast members
As easily as one can guess, we will have the return of other main stars from the first film including Gal Gadot who will continue with the role of Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher who will portray Cyborg, Jason Momoa to continue with his role of Aquaman, and Ezra Miller as The Flash.
4. Villain Cast For Justice League 2
Looking at the Legion of Doom, the post-credits scene of the 2017 Justice League indicated that we will have Joe Manganiello taking the role of Deathstroke and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luther. Apart from these two, there should be a strong villain force that could include characters like The Joker which may be portrayed by Jared Leto or even Joaquin Phoenix, although that is uncertain.
Others that may appear are Cheetah (Kristin Wiig) who will be in Wonder Woman 2, Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), and the mad scientist Dr. Sivana (Mark Strong) as well as Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson).
This is When to Expect Its Release
At first, the release date for the superhero film was set at June 14, 2019. However, this was removed and is still yet to be replaced. The main reason cited for the cancellation of the release date was the interference with the many works and activities that DC was busy with at the time. And so in its place, we saw the release of Shaft reboot.
With a rather busy calendar, we may not see the release of the film until probably April 8, 2021, which is the initial release date for Russia. By then we will get to see a better list of cast members as well as plot and other details.
