Professionally known as Judy Greer, Judith Therese Evans is a U.S author, model, director, and actress who is popularly known for her outstanding performances as a character actor in several dramatic and comedic films. Her first major role as an actress was as Fern Mayo (Vylette) in the 1999 black comedy Jawbreaker, in that same year, she played a supporting role in the war film Three Kings.

Judy Greer’s Biography

Judy’s full name is Judith Therese Evans and she was born in Detroit, Michigan on the 20th of July 1975 to Mollie Ann and Rich Evans. Her mother who works in a hospital an as administrator was formerly a nun who was sent out of the convent after 8 years for wild behavior. Her dad is a mechanical engineer.

She grew up in Redford Township and Livonia and was raised a Roman Catholic. Greer is an alumnus of Churchill High School, Livonia and of DePaul University where she bagged a degree in Fine Arts in 1997. Due to several other actresses named Judy or Judi Evans, Greer adopted her mother’s maiden name for her stage name.

Career/Movies

She began her acting career in 1998 and her first movie appearance was in a horror film titled Stricken, where she portrayed a college student who played a very fatal prank. In that same year, she landed a minor role in Doug Ellin’s romantic comedy, Kissing a Fool. This was followed by her first major role in 1999, where she played Fern Mayo (Vylette) – an introverted teenager who exposed her classmates’ murder of their friend, in Jawbreaker. The movie earned a cult following.

In 2000, she played Erin in What Women Want, the following year, she played alongside Jennifer Lopez in The Wedding Planner. The next year, she was cast in an Untitled Ken Finkleman Project which is based on a Canadian show The Newsroom. She starred in the project alongside Stephen Colbert who played Finkleman and her, his sister.

Judy Greer has been a recurring face on Fox comedy series Arrested Development since 2003. She has played supporting roles in several other movies like What Women Want, The Village, 13 Going on 30, Elizabethtown, Adaptation, 27 Dresses, Love Happens, among others.

Her other movies include CarrieDawn of the Planet of the Apes, Get a Mac. In 2015, she co-starred in Ant-Man, Jurassic World and Tomorrowland. Greer has also made guest appearances on several other movies and shows like Just Shoot Me!, CSI: MiamiMy Name Is EarlIt’s Always Sunny in PhiladelphiaCalifornication, ER, HouseModern Family, The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother and Warren the Ape.

Judy also starred in an ABC sitcom Miss Guided, which was unfortunately taken off air in its first season. She was also in Visioneers. In 2016, she landed her first lead role as a voice actor in Netflix’s animated programs, Ask the StoryBots and StoryBots Super Songs. She would reprise her role the following year in the movie’s sequel War for the Planet of the Apes. Her most recent role is as Maggie Lang, in 2018 superhero film Ant-Man and the Wasp, followed by her role as Laurie Strode’s daughter, Karen Strode in the 2018 horror sequel movie Halloween.

Greer has also been slated to provide voice for the titular character, Luna, in the animated television series Let’s Go Luna!, which is scheduled to premiere in November 2018. Her outstanding performances have earned her several nominations for which she has won some of the awards like the John Cassavetes Award. In 2014, she authored a memoir titled “I Don’t Know What You Know Me From” in which she narrated her journey from Detriot to Hollywood.

The talented actress has been married to TV producer Dean E. Johnsen since 2011. The couple met on a blind date and after dating for a while, they tied the knots in 2011. They, however, kept two separate home until 2018.

The reason for the separate homes was to allow Johnsen to stay close to his two kids from his previous marriage but now that his kids are grown and have left home, the couple decided to live together in Greer’s newly refurbished home. Judy Greer does not have any kids of her own yet but she is a stepmother to Johnsen’s two children.

As soon as the actress turned forty, she began worrying about some things which bothers so much on her health and aging. She admitted in an interview that she is focusing more attention on things she can control, like ensuring she sleeps at least eight hours a night, drinking enough water, washing her face before bed, and watching what she puts on her face.

And for the things she can’t control, she turned to plastic surgery products and goes for some skin beauty treatments from time to time. She once had to treat for limelight laser, a treatment usually used in plastic surgeries. She uses Joanna Vargas products and different other products like serums, anti-aging products, Vitamin C face wash for her face and many others, which have helped her maintain her ageless look.
