Joyner started out his career as G-storm when he started rapping at the age of ten. Inspired by the works of Method Man, Nas, The Notorious B.I.G, and Eminem, he would later make his first billboard music with the latter.

He took on rapping as a craft and later started a group called Film Skool Rejekts. At the time, Joyner was working with his uncle and they released a mixtape called Workprint: The Greatest Mixtape of All Time within the first year of establishing the group. The group released their mixtape in 2007, then, Joyner went with the stage name, Future Joyner and released his first mixtape under the stage name in 2011. He, however, had to drop it when the rapper, Future got famous. In order to carve a unique identity for himself, Joyner thought it wise to drop the “Future” from his stage name and go simply as Joyner Lucas.

Joyner is currently signed to Atlantic Records and has been experiencing some significant rise in his profile. It is the blossoming of a journey that started back when he attended South High Community School in Worcester. The songwriter may not have expected back when he sat in his room, listening to the voice of Eminem out of his playback device that he would one day, be on a track with his idol. He was featured on the white rapper‘s 2018 album, Kamikaze. The song they did together (Lucky You) debut on number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The American rapper born on August 17, 1988, in Worcester, Massachusetts has so far released four solo mixtapes, with his third and fourth mixtape receiving critical praise. His mixtape, Along Came Joyner released in 2015 featured one of his more well-received songs, Ross Capicchioni. It was such a success that BET considered him worthy of a feature in its 2015 BET Hip Hop Awards Cypher. Another mixtape he released in 2017 made it to number 7 of the Heatseekers Album chart on Billboard.

Since his breakout onto the mainstream, Joyner Lucas has worked with a few established artists. He has a mixtape titled Angels and Demons with Chris Brown that is due for release soon. He released a single off the project on February 26, 2018. Another major collaboration was with Eminem on his Kamikaze album. The song, Lucky You debuted on number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and it went platinum in October 2018. He’s worked with other artists such as Tech N9ne, Boi-1da, Logic, and Busta Rhymes. Joyner Lucas is currently working on an album titled ADHD. He’s African American.
