For most people, Josh Turner is an American country musician who has equally found fame in acting. But Josh takes pride in pointing out that he’s much more than that. To him, he’s not just one of the youngest talents of the Grand Ole Opry but equally one of the iconic hitmakers as far as country music is concerned.
Turner believes it’s a big deal he has been able to sell over 12.5 million units of his hits; he thinks his distinctive style of music, combined with his rich and deep voice are some of the factors which have set him apart from a majority of other musicians of his genre. Some of his mega hits include Firecracker, Your man, Time is Love, Why Don’t We Just Dance, All Over Me and much more.
Bio – Age and Rise to Fame
Born as Joshua Otis Turner on 20th November 1977 in Hannah, South Carolina, Josh has been performing and writing songs right from the earliest years of his life.
The entertainer often described as a devout Christian spent most of the early days of his life taking part in church activities. He was so passionate about singing that he created a gospel group made up of four singers. In view of this and the kind of music Josh currently makes, it has been suggested albeit subtly that the man departed from his initial course. But Josh has insisted that being a country musician was what he always dreamt of doing. To him, it was God’s design for him to be a Christain singer and not a gospel musician.
Josh Turner attended the Hannah-Pamplico High School in his hometown. To further his education, he became a student at Francis Marion University but he soon left the institution for Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. Throughout his studies, Josh kept his passion for music alive, his breakthrough came after college in December 2001 when he first performed at Grand Ole Opry. A few years later, precisely in 2003, he was signed to MCA Nashville Records.
Owing to the fact that Josh couldn’t gain access to music education as much as he desired when he was in high school, he understands the frustrations of young fellas who want to pursue a career in arts and music. For this reason, Mr. Josh founded The Josh Turner Scholarship Fund which has been offering assistant to high school kids enthusiastic about making a profession out of entertainment.
Family – Josh Turner’s Wife (Jennifer Ford) and Kids
If Josh Turner had any romantic affair before he met his wife, it has been completely overshadowed by the bond he shares with Jennifer Ford. The entertainer became husband to Miss Ford in 2003 and, as far as we can tell, they have been having a happy union.
It is said that the two met at Nashville’s Belmont University. Josh confirmed this in his 2014’s book Man Stuff: Thoughts on Faith, Family and Fatherhood. Divulging that his meeting with lady Ford was a happenstance, he expressed that the friendship they later developed was unique. In his own words, he “was truly on cloud nine”.
Although Jennifer slowed down the pace of the relationship as it took her quite a while to regard Josh as her boyfriend, their emotional attachment towards each other grew stronger. When Josh was convinced she’s the perfect mate for him, he asked her to be his wife; this happened in November 2002. We learned the proposal was very much characterized by the expression of love. The two were at a picnic in Nashville’s Percy Priest Lake when the musician performed a song he wrote for Jennifer and thereafter dropped on one knee.
Josh Turner further conveyed in his book that his marriage, though not trouble-free, has been beautiful. The star and his wife feel blessed to have more than just each other. Their marriage has been blessed with four sons – Colby Lynch, Marion Crawford, Hampton Otis, and Samuel Hawke.
Of course, Turner has done a good job building his own family with Jennifer Ford. He learned most of the values which have helped him run his own home smoothly from being a member of the Joe-Karen Turner family. Other members of the family include his brother Matt Turner and sister, Carrie Turner.
