John Ross became a famous name in NFL even before he made his debut in the league. He was crowned the King of the 40 for his fantastic record-breaking 4.22-second 40-yard dash during the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine. It is said that the record stands as the fastest since 1999 – which was the year NFL started an electronic timing of the drill.

In addition to other things that have distinguished Ross from a good number of NFL players, he is probably most admired for his dynamic speed. Even though it is believed in several quarters that Ross has to improve his game in terms of making contested catches and that his physical attributes only affords him limited play strength, there is no doubt about him being a playmaker, with the ball in his hands, the value of his speed becomes indispensable.

Hopes were high when John joined the Cincinnati Bengals, he was the 9th overall selection and was picked in the first round by the team. As such, it was hardly imagined that his rookie campaign would be largely disappointing. He professionally debuted sometime in September 2017 and spent more time battling injuries throughout the season which he practically ended with no stats. The wide receiver could only boast of one rushing attempts and 12 rushing yards by the end of the season.

Thankfully, John hasn’t been weighed down by the wasted season, he has refused to agree with those suggesting that the poor outing was an outcome of Bengals’ head coach, Marvin Lewis’ management and, is hard at work to attain what he describes as being the team’s X-factor.
