John Berman is an American by nationality whose ethnicity has been recorded as White but has Jewish ancestry. He was born to Gerry Berman and Jane Lewis on March 21, 1972, in Carlisle, Massachusetts, United States and he has a sister named Mindy.

Berman received his Primary Education at Philips Academy Andover in Massachusetts after which he proceeded to Harvard University and during his stay there, he joined the Hasty Pudding Theatricals, eventually becoming its leader.

Career

In 1995, not long after his graduation from Harvard, John Berman got a job with ABC News as an office assistant and in a short period of just 2 years, he graduated to a higher level in the organization. He then became the head writer for Peter Jennings for World News Tonight and worked alongside Peter to report the shooting at the Columbine School in Colorado, as well as covering the tour of the Pope at Cuba.

Berman’s growth and expertise were rather rapid as it is known that he was transferred to the White House to cover the swearing-in of the U.S President George W. Bush. He spent about six months in the White House before his transfer to New York. Notably, it was during his stay in New York that the fatal September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks occurred and he was privileged to cover the counter-terrorism invasions in Iraq and Lebanon which he described as a good experience though, terrifying, risky and stressful. John Berman and Peter Jennings also covered the proceedings for the impeachment of President Clinton.

It was in 2012 that he got his present job with CNN and so far, he has been doing well and his excellence in his profession cannot go unrecognized as he has received a couple of awards for his contributions to the broadcasting niche which include the Edward R. Murrow Award for his contributions to the crew of World News Tonight, the show that won the best broadcast in the year 2004 and in 2010, he also received another one from the James Beard Awards under Television segment.

The seasoned journalist met his wife Kerry Voss back in college via the Hasty Pudding Theatricals which Berman once led in school. They started a relationship in 1993, their relationship thrived for many years and eventually ended up in a marriage which was made official on July 20, 2001.

His wife, Kerry Voss is barely seen on social media and John Berman chooses to go private, most especially with regards to his wife’s details.
