The golfer was born on 16th January 1979 in Oklahoma City but he grew up in San Antonio, Texas. He attended Canyon High School in New Braunfels from where he graduated in 1997 and later proceeded to Baylor University in Waco, Texas, where he played college golf and by age 22, he turned professional. The young golfer began playing on the Nationwide Tour on a full- time basis in 2003 and by 2004, he landed his first two wins as a professional at the BellSouth Panama Championship and the Chitimacha Louisiana Open. At the end of the 2004 season, Walker topped the charts as the Nationwide Tour’s leading money winner, earned Player of the Year honors alongside his first PGA Tour card.

Sometime in April 2017, Walker made it known to the public that he has been diagnosed with Lyme disease. Although sources have it that his illness started earlier than the diagnoses revealed and even his doctors did not expect him to catch such a rare ailment. The golfer was said to have had symptoms like mood swings, brain fog and constantly catching the flu which affected his performance on the golf course.
After his diagnosis, the athlete even revealed that it was not an easy task to find the right treatment for his ailment. His initial treatment was the traditional Doxycycline therapy but that did not seem to do much for him as it resulted to him sustaining second- degree burn from the sun when he ventured to play in the pitch.
