Apart from being games that were released by Blizzard Entertainment, one thing they have in common is that they were also designed by Jeff Kaplan – an American video game designer whose games are among the best in the gaming world. More than just a designer, he is also the vice president o Blizzard Entertainment.

Jeff Kaplan – Biography and Age

November 4, 1972, was the date Jeff Kaplan was born in New Jersey. However, it was in La Cañada Flintridge, California, that he was brought up, alongside his brother whose name is Jason.

The main interest of Kaplan as he was growing up was to become a creative writer. He took this dream so seriously that he went to the University of Southern California to study Creative Writing. His target after he graduated was to further his education and then get published. Hence, he moved to graduate school at New York University where he continued in the same field.

However, when he was done, reality soon hit him as he was unable to have any of his works published, including his short stories and poetry. More so, he received rejection letters that were more than a hundred.

Long before then, Kaplan was a gamer and so, after failing as a writer, he decided to go back to gaming and thanks to the fantasy game EverQuest which he played, he met Rob Pardo, Blizzard’s lead designer for Warcraft III. Pardo later informed Jeff about an opening, leading to him getting his job at Blizzard.

Eventually, he worked his way around and got involved in a number of projects including World of Warcraft for which he was the Game Director. In the franchise, he was the designer for Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos (2002), World of Warcraft (2004), World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade (2007), and World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King (2008). He was also the designer of the 2013 game Titan before it was cancelled. In 2016, he became the lead designer and game director of Overwatch.

Jeff Kaplan is a married man who met his wife when he was still in his 20s and like most people in the gaming world, he met her through gaming. She was a night elf warrior who he found very hard defeating. At the time, he was still an aspiring writer while she was a great gamer whom for years that followed, he believed was a man.

The two became friends, thanks to the game and when they finally met, they fell in love. A few years of dating and they decided to make it permanent by becoming man and wife.

The game designer has managed to keep all the information about his wife well hidden. The only thing known about her is that her name is Angela and she is also a gamer who met her husband through EverQuest before they got married in 2006. Thus far, it is not known if the couple has any kids together.

When it comes to the fortune that he has been able to get through the years, Jeff has not done badly for himself. He has a net worth that has been estimated at $10 million. He made this amount mostly from his career as a video game designer, as well as being the vice president of the giant gaming company, Blizzard.

In tandem with the fortune that he has, he also has various luxurious stuff, including a multi-million dollar house at Santa Rosa Valley, California.
