Stars are discovered in different ways, while some find their inbuilt talent by themselves, some others wouldn’t have shined if not for the intervention of people around them. For Jay Hernandez, his unplanned elevator encounter with talent manager Howard Tyner steered him in the right direction. Apparently, Howard saw a promising Hollywood star in Jay and advised him to pursue a career in acting and we are glad he did.
Consequently, he sent Jay Hernandez to acting school to prep him for what’s coming and also sent out his pictures to casting agents and admittedly, they liked him, so do we.
Jay Hernandez’s Bio
The American actor was born on February 20, 1978, in Montebello, California. His mother, Isis worked as a secretary and accountant while Javier Hernandez Sr., his father, worked as a mechanic. His ancestry can be traced to Mexico as his parents are both third-generation Mexican-Americans.
From Don Bosco Technical Institute in Rosemead, California, Jay Hernandez completed his senior year in school at Schurr High School in Montebello.
After graduation, a random elevator ride in a high-rise in Los Angeles turned his life around for good after he met talent manager Howard Tyner. Subsequently, he was introduced to the right people in the movie industry and the rest became a worth knowing history.
Soon afterward, Jay Hernandez swung into action, churning out stellar performances in their numbers and in no time, he became a force to reckon with in Hollywood, turns out Howard Tyner is really good at spotting talents from afar. Hernandez debuted in 1998 on NBC series Hang Time where he portrayed the role of Antonio Lopez until 2000. The film Crazy/Beautiful in which he starred alongside Kirsten Dunst in 2001 brought the spotlight to Hernandez who went on to kill several lead roles in many Hollywood films and TV shows. He was a lead character in Carlito’s Way: Rise to Power, Hostel & it’s sequel Hostel Part II, and World Trade Center between 2005 and 2007. Another one of his remarkable roles came in the action/crime film Takers. In the film which was released in 2010, Hernandez starred side by side with industry big gun Idris Elba.
From 2011 to 2015, Jay Hernandez played remarkable roles in movies like Trooper, Max, LOL, The Night is Young. He also starred in TV series including Last resort, Nashville and The Expanse with Scandal and Magnum P.I. coming later in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
Also, his role in the 2016 comedy film Bad Moms where he starred as Jessie Harkness is one of his notable appearances. He reprised the role in the sequel Bad Moms Christmas the next year.
Though he is yet to win one, Jay has been nominated for several awards for his performances and has more lined up.
Hernandez is quite a hunk with the kind of looks that gets the ladies hooked. Standing at a height of 1.74 m – 5ft 7in, the American actor may not be among the tallest men in Hollywood but he sure makes up in other aspects of his body. Sadly, his body measurements are not available but he evidently keeps fit.
From a career he probably never thought was his forte, Jay Hernandez has amassed quite a lot of wealth that can be described as nothing but impressive. He has appeared in top-grossing blockbusters and his estimated net worth of $5 million dollars does not come as a surprise. The actor still has his years ahead of him and with many projects lined up, he is sure to increase those digits in no time at all.
Family, Wife, Kids
The charmer was born to Javier Hernandez Sr. (father) and Isis (mother) who are both third-generation Mexican Americans. Hernandez has three other siblings – a younger sister named Amelia in addition to his two brothers – Michael and Gabriel who are older than him.
For his marital status, the actor is taken. He got hitched in 2006 to Daniella Deutscher, his Hang Time co-star. At the time of their meeting, Hernandez was a 14-year-old while the woman he later married was 17. So, basically, they grew up together and are now on a journey to spend the rest of their lives together.
