Jason Lee’s Biography
The actor is the son of a Carol Lee (mother) and Greg Lee (father). He was born and named Jason Michael Lee on the 25th of April 1970, in Santa Ana, in California, in the United States. Jason was raised by his car dealership manager father and homemaker mother in Huntington Beach along with his older brother called James Lee. The brothers continued to live with their mother after their parents divorced.
The former professional skateboarder attended Ocean View High School but he dropped out to fully pursue a career in skateboarding to the disappointment of his mother. Lee started skateboarding at a young age after his mother bought him a board to help burn some of his excess energy. The actor would get hooked to the sports equipment instantly and spent most of his free hours honing his skating skills. Jason Lee eventually went pro in the late 1980s and became a skating influence until the early 1990s. After a brief-but-prestigious stint, he formally retired from the pro skateboarding circuit in the year 1996. But before he made an exit from the sports arena, he co-founded a company called Stereo Skateboards with co-skater Chris Pastras in 1992. The pair revived the company in 2003 and as of 2013, their names are still on the professional “Classics” team roster.
From 1992 to 1994, Jason Lee won a few minor acting gigs in the movie industry. He eventually switched to full-time acting after he left professional skateboarding. Lee bagged his first major role in the romantic comedy movie Mallrats, wherein he starred as Brodie Bruce. Following a successful stint, Lee began to earn more major and minor Hollywood gigs. So far, he has been honored with two prestigious awards (Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Male and Online Film Critics Society Award for Best Cast) for being part of the movies – Chasing Amy and Almost Famous. His involvement in Almost Famous also earned him two outstanding nominations (Favorite Supporting Actor for Drama/Romance at Blockbuster Entertainment Award and Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture Screen Actors Guild Award) in the year 2000.
Lee started showing interest in photography in the early 2000s. He has since grown to become an avid lover of instant photography. Recently, Jason Lee released a photo book containing “184 pages of Polaroid & Fuji Film photographs from the year 2006 to 2016” through Refueled Magazine. The 1.87 meters entertainer currently resides in Denton, Texas, and can be said to have cemented his place in the skating and showbiz communities.
Jason Lee may be better known for his impressive performances on the screen but he has successfully built businesses as well due to his many talents. As mentioned earlier, he is an actor, comedian, former professional skateboarder, voice actor, photographer, and film producer. Right from when he started making it big in the industry to the time he eventually made it to the billionaires’ club, Jason has enjoyed financial stability – many thanks to his thriving diverse business empires. As of 2018, his net worth is estimated to be $20 million.
Spouse – Ceren Alkac
Ceren Alkac is best known as Lee’s second wife. They got married in July 2008 in California and share three children together – a son named Sonny (born 2012) and daughters Casper (born 2008) and Alberta (2017). Before getting connected to Ceren, Jason was previously married to photographer and actress Carmen Llywelyn. They tied the knot in 1995 and divorced in 2001. Carmen is said to have pointed to Jason’s commitment to Scientology as the main cause for their separation.
In addition to the three children Jason Lee shares with Alkac, he has another child, a son he had with actress Beth Riesgraf. The pair became friends and eventually got engaged after Lee’s divorce from his first wife, Llywelyn. However, they called off the engagement after six years (2001-2007) together. The name of their son is Pilot Inspektor.
