This American professional basketball player had a hard time growing up. JaMychal Green lived in an unsafe neighborhood and lost his brother in 1992. His dream of wanting to live a better life has been actualized now that he is playing for the Memphis Grizzlies of the National Basketball Association (NBA)

Who Is JaMychal Green?

JaMychal Green was born on the 21st of June, 1990 in Montgomery to Alonzo and Rita Green. JaMychal started playing basketball while in high school. He led the St. Jude Educational Institute to the Class A State Championship in 2006 and 2008. He was even voted the MVP of the 2006 Championship. While in High school, he played for the USA National team at the FIBA Americas U-18 Championship in 2008.

Moving on to College, JaMychal Green chose to commit to the University of Alabama. He had other offers but chose Alabama because he wanted to play alongside Andrew Steele and Tony Mitchell, who were his close friends. In his first season, having played 31 games with an average of 11.6 points per game, he was ranked first in rebounding among Southeastern Conference (SEC) freshmen; but he came second among players with five double-doubles. For his second season, which was not as successful as the first, he had the ninth position in the SEC in rebounding (7.2).

Later on, he was called up to be a part of the 2009 Old-Spice Classic Tournament team and was instrumental in winning the game with a late winning shot at just five seconds on the clock. This earned him the SEC Player of the Week. Thanks to his exceptional skills, he has several accolades such as being the 2008 Alabama Mr. Basketball and a three-time Alabama Sportswriters Association Player of the Year. He also has a silver medal for being a part of the USA National U-18 Team.
