She attended Choate Rosemary Hall private school where she graduated from in 1976. Jamie was a cheerleader during her years at Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles. After high school, the emerging star was set to major in social work in the University of the Pacific, California but dropped out after one semester in order to pursue a career in acting.

The actress also won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for her roles in A Fish Called Wanda and True Lies.
