James Marsters has enjoyed good success in his various endeavors in the entertainment industry. Famed as an American singer, he has also thrived as a voice-over artist and as an actor popularly known for his epic role as a notorious vampire on the hit American TV series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

James Wesley Marsters was born on the 20th of August 1962 in Greenville, California. Growing up, he was raised alongside his two siblings (Paul and Susan) in Modesto, California. As a kid, Marsters showed great potential at acting with him going on to play the role of Eeyore in a play titled Winnie the Pooh in fourth grade. He had his high school education at Grace M Davis High School where he was a vibrant member of the theatre club which led to him appearing in several school plays and musicals. Upon graduation from High School in 1980, he attended the Pacific Conservatory of Performing Arts at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, California.
In 1987, he moved to Chicago where he bagged his first ever acting role at the Goodman Theatre with him playing the character of Ferdinand in the play, The Tempest. From 1987 to 1990, Marsters appeared on stage for several theatres playing various roles with the most prominent being his role as Robespierre in the 1989 drama, Incorruptible: The Life, Death, and Dreams of Maximilian de Robespierre. Following the recognition he gained through his role as Robespierre, he moved to Seattle in 1990 where he set up his own theatre alongside Liane Davidson and Greg Musick; they named it the New Mercury Theatre.
