Many years ago, precisely on January 9, 1955, in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, U.S, J K Simmons began life as a tot named Jonathan Kimble Simmons. He was born to Patricia (née Kimble) and Donald William Simmons. While his mom worked as an administrator, his father was a music school teacher who taught middle school students and later a college professor. J K has as his siblings David Simmons and Elizabeth Simmons. His brother grew to become a singer and songwriter, sort of maintaining the family tradition.

Tracing the childhood of J K Simmons, records reveal that when he was about 10 years old, his family relocated to Worthington, Ohio which saw him attending Thomas Worthington High School (1970-72) and by 1973, they settled in Missoula, Montana as his father secured a job as the director of music at the University of Montana (UM).

Perhaps, being born into a family where his father taught music greatly influenced J K Simmons’ choice of a career in music. He subsequently studied and obtained a music degree from the University of Montana. Simmons acted in The Scout, a Twentieth Century-Fox production in the year 1994 as an assistant coach, Hit and Runaway (1991) as Ray Tilman, Dr. Emil Skoda’s recurring role in Law & Order (1997-present), Jonah Jameson in Spider-Man (2002) and many others.

The Michigan born actor had critical acclaim for his work in Whiplash (2014) which geared up his career. He won the Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor, BAFTA Awards for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Golden Globe Awards for Best Supporting Actor – Motion Picture, AACTA Awards as Best International Supporting Actor, the Screen Actors Guild Awards as Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role and many others all in 2014 for his expert portrayal of Terence Fletcher, a ruthless jazz instructor at Shaffer in the Damien Chazelle written and directed drama film which also stared Miles Teller, Melissa Benoist and Paul Reiser.
