As of June 2020, Lizzo joined the vegan train. This means she eats no animal products and all kinds of meat are off the plate for her. To get the best results from this venture, she was having a protein-based green smoothie for breakfast, and for lunch, she would go for veggie salad and wrap the day off with vegan chips and hummus as snack while mushroom balls are used for dinner.

She once shared her recipe for a smoothie dessert made by blending peanut butter, frozen strawberries, oats, oat milk, and vanilla protein powder. Lizzo is not doing any intense weight loss exercise as she has made it clear that losing a lot of weight is not the target.

She Courted Controversy For Doing Smoothie Detox Cleansing

In December 2020, the ‘Truth Hurts’ singer revealed her 10-day smoothie detox cleanse created by author and nutritionist J.J. Smith and this brought her under serious fire on social media. She was trolled and condemned for promoting detox cleanses which many thinks don’t work.

In response, the rapper made it clear that it is her body and her journey and she is doing things her way. She believes that people should do what works for them when it comes to achieving body goals. Taking to Instagram, Lizzo wrote;

“I detoxed my body and I’m still fat. I love my body and I’m still fat. I’m beautiful and I’m still fat. These things are not mutually exclusive. To the people who look to me, please do not starve yourselves. I did not starve myself. I fed myself greens and water and fruit and protein and sunlight. You don’t have to do that to be beautiful or healthy. That was my way. You can do life your way. Remember, despite anything anyone says or does? DO WHAT YOU WANT WITH YOUR BODY?”

She also emphasized that she will not be recording any dramatic weight loss as many are anticipating. She is bent on changing the narrative that when a big girl is on a weight loss journey, she is expected to shed a lot of weight. For Lizzo, she is just pursuing a healthy lifestyle while still embracing her extra meat.

Lizzo Celebrated Gaining Weight On Instagram

In the end, Lizzo loves her body irrespective of its size. Earlier in 2022, Lizzo took to Instagram with a video of her dancing in the bathroom to celebrate the fact that she gained a few kilos. While many would prefer to dance to celebrate losing some pounds in their weight journey, Lizza doesn’t care about the size she is at, all she knows is that she looks good.

The video attracted a lot of positive comments from her followers, including SZA. She got a lot of support from people who love her self-love promotion and the way she has encouraged people to love their bodies. However, while she makes it look like a piece of cake, promoting the body positivity movement has not been easy for the rapper who confessed that there are days she struggles to accept her body image.

There is no doubt that Lizzo has succeeded in her quest to change the narrative around body size and has equally given visibility to overweight women on a global scale. So, in case you are waiting for that dramatic weight loss from her, you might have to wait forever as she obviously likes it big.
