Hamish Linklater was born on July 7, 1976, in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. He was born to James Lincoln Cormenyand Kristin Linklater. His mother, Kristin Linklater is a Scottish retired professor emeritus from the Theatre Arts Division of Columbia University. She raised Hamish as a single mother. The American actor is from a diverse ethnic background ranging from Scottish, English, Belgian, German, Irish and Swedish.
Linklater was raised in Berkshire, Massachusetts, and he started acting when he was just 8 years old, playing small Shakespearean roles. His acting at that early age was made possible largely due to his mother’s influence as an actress and acting teacher, so acting was never something new or strange to Linklater. It became something he did at his leisure time and from there he began to dream of going higher in the business.
Hamish attended Commonwealth School, a private high school located in Boston, Massachusetts.
