His Family, Wife
The Indian guru was born into a loving and close-knit family of four as the only son. He has a sister. However, along the line in his adult life long before he became a monk, he fell out with his father because of some differences in opinion. For that, he did not speak to the man for two years but on the insistence of his mother, the two reconciled again.
Although the duo returned to speaking terms, one thing Gaur Gopal Das failed to do was to say sorry to his father. His ego kept him from saying the seemingly simple two-letter words, I’m sorry, even after becoming a monk. It was until 2009 when his father died after suffering from Parkinson’s disease that it dawned on the life coach what difference those words could have made not only in their relationship but in his life as well. What he couldn’t tell the old man in his lifetime, he did after his death. Since then, Das has been teaching others to apologize for their mistakes and to forgive people.
