Freddie Prinze Jr’s Bio
Freddie, as his name suggests, is the son of the iconic actor-comedian, Freddie Prinze. His mother was Katherine Elaine Barber, a real estate agent. Freddie’s father died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in 1977, less than a year after the actor was born on the 8th of March, 1976. Although he was born in Los Angeles, Freddie Prinze Jr was raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico as a Roman Catholic.
Ostensibly Caucasian, Freddie has embraced the exotic part of his origins – his paternal grandmother’s Hispanic ancestry. He is an accomplished Spanish language speaker and he attended La Cueva High School. At the end of high school in 1994, when most teenagers looked forward to the freedom and debauchery of college, Freddie moved to Los Angeles in pursuit of an acting career, beginning with an audition for television roles.
Barely a year after making the move to the City of Angels, Freddie got his first onscreen role as a guest actor on Family Matters, an ABC show in 1995. The following year, after appearances on a few television projects, he landed his first appearance in a feature film in 1996’s To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday. Freddie then landed several successful big screen projects, mostly in the young adult genre. From I Know What You Did Last Summer to She’s All That, the actor was a box office commercial hit for young adult roles.
His successful turn at the box office slowed at the turn of the millennium but he still continued to star in some major films like the Scooby Doo movies in 2002 and 2004. In the first one and a half decade of his acting career, Freddie starred in several notable television projects as well, some of which include Boston Legal, Friends, Frasier and Down to You. He even headlined his own show Freddie which aired on ABC Network. He has also landed voice roles for video games like Mass Effect 3 and Disney Infinity 3.0.
In 2008, Freddie got the dream of every fanboy when he was hired by the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) to be a creative staff for the company. Freddie who is a big WWE fan was in the position for about a year before he left the company. He did, however, return in 2009 and stayed in a more permanent position as producer and director from 2010 to 2012.
Wife – Sarah Michelle Gellar, Kids
Freddie may not share the global popularity that some of his actor peers have but he has something many of them do not have – a long-lasting relationship. Freddie has been married to his wife, Sarah Michelle Gellar since 2002. The couple met in 1997 and a bond was formed that culminated in a marriage at Puerto Vallarta in Western Mexico. His wife, Sarah is also an actor who has starred in films and television shows like TMNT, Suburban Girl, Possession, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, I Know What You Did Last Summer, The Crazy Ones, amongst many others.
The couple, who are still very much in love, have two children – Charlotte Grace and Rocky James who were born in 2009 and 2012 respectively.
Freddie has been able to build a net worth of $19 million. Not bad, right? The actor has been able to build the more than decent net worth from the commercial success of his early projects and the steady flow of income from his later projects.
