Wrestlers are not only known for the strength and the stamina with which they hit and withstand return-strikes from their opponents in the ring, but also by their gimmicks which is an embodiment of their whole persona as far as their professional life is concerned. While to some, this might just be as ordinary as their costume, style of fight or ring entrance theme, to others we are meant to believe that it goes beyond the ordinary and it is in this category that Finn Balor’s Demon King Gimmick comes into perspective.

Here, you are going to learn what the Finn Balor’s Demon King Gimmick is all about, what happened to it, why we don’t see him appearing as it again and when it will likely be used again.

What is the Finn Balor’s Demon King Gimmick?

Finn Balor assumes two distinct and interesting personalities when he is up for a fight. Either as his normal self or the Demon King which is typically reserved for high profile matches.

The Finn Balor’s Demon King costume consists of an elaborate work of paint over his body which is said to make him more powerful when he taps into the unique powers of the demon in the dark place of his mind. He has been seen repeatedly to gain a psychological advantage over his opponents and fight more aggressively whenever he assumes the identity of the Demon King.

To some, it is no more than body paint but to others, it is a lot more than what the eyes see, considering how he becomes unbeatable and wrestles as if he was a different person. Well, yes, he becomes a different person as we are meant to understand that the demon in his darker side takes hold of the better part of him.

What Happened To Finn Balor’s Demon King Gimmick?

The first time wrestling enthusiasts saw the Finn Balor’s Demon King gimmick was in NXT, he was wild, powerful and seemed like something out of the ordinary; extraterrestrial probably. Fans went ecstatic and the media fueled the euphoria with reports of the new act in NXT and questions began flooding on who the act was. To this, answers were given much to their delight and appreciation which saw the Demon King’s fan base soar high.

The last time we saw Finn Balor use the gimmick was at his SummerSlam match against Seth Rollins in 2016 which ended in a victory and saw the Demon King crowned the first WWE Universal Champion in the history of the company. In that same match, Finn suffered a shoulder injury which saw him sidelined from action for months and ultimately had him relinquishing the title.

Following his prolonged absence from wrestling and more especially that of the Demon King while nursing his shoulder injury, losing the title and making no comeback for it, his fans and wrestling enthusiasts began asking ‘what happened to Finn Balor’s Demon King gimmick and why they haven’t seen it in recent time?’

Nevertheless, Finn disclosed in an interview he granted to Adam Santarossa of news.com.au while promoting WWE’s 2017 Australian tour that the Demon King character is something that is summoned to duty on special occasions (big fights) to enable him to tap into the darker path of his personality and draw inspiration on how to trounce his opponent. Furthermore, he informed that since he came back to RAW after his injury, a fixture hasn’t warranted the Demon King to make an appearance in the ring just yet.

For now, Finn is being himself fighting in his usual style; powerful and brutal in an impressive way as well and from all indications is enjoying his time whenever he is out there in the ring.

When Will It be Used Again?

It seems making the Demon King gimmick a once in a blue moon affair helps to keep its potency. So many people have asked about when the Finn Balor’s Demon King gimmick will be used again with no answer coming from the wrestler.

However, drawing a conclusion from the paragraphs above where we reported that it is something he reserves solely for ‘special occasions’, one can infer that the Finn Balor’s Demon King gimmick will be used in his next big fight. Probably in the August 2018 SummerSlam or any of the other WWE’s pay per view exclusive events like the SummerSlam, Survivor Series, Royal Rumble, and/or WrestleMania.
