Ersan ilyasova was born to Turkish parents Enver Ilyasov (father) and Iraliye Ilyasov (mother) on the 15th day of May 1987. His mother, Iraliye had him in Eskişehir, a fast-growing city in northwestern Turkey. He has one sibling, a sister called Nelly ilyasova, who is quite supportive of his flourishing career.

Ersan launched his professional career in 2003, making his debut for Yeşilyurt in the 2003/2004 Turkish second division league season. He averaged 3.2 rebounds in 11 games as well as 4.5 points in that season.

The year 2009 saw Ersan returning to Milwaukee Bucks for the second time. He would re-sign his deal with the Bucks on July 12, 2012, and eventually ended his stint with the team in 2015. He spent his quality time with the Detroit Pistons from 2015 to 2016, after he was traded to the Pistons in exchange for Shawne Williams and Caron Butler on June 11, 2015.
Ersan went on to play for Orlando Magic and Oklahoma City Thunder in 2016 and then the Philadelphia 76ers from 2016 to 2017 and later the Atlanta Hawks from 2017 to 2018. ilyasova returned to the Philadephia 76ers for a second stint on February 28, 2018. Currently, he is representing the Milwaukee Bucks in the league since July 16, 2018, when his third stint with the team began.
