Eric Rowe is a professional American football player and a bonafide NFL star. Before turning pro in 2015, he played 4 years of college football at the University of Utah. He was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in round two of the 2015 NFL Draft. The talented player joined the New England Patriots in 2016 after a fairly successful rookie season with the Eagles. He won the first Super Bowl title of his career in his very first season with the Patriots and he is undoubtedly on the path for even more titles.

Eric Rowe’s Bio

This NFL star was born Nelson Eric Rowe Jr. on the third day of October 1992. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, but was mainly raised in different parts of Texas. He attended Klein High School in Klein, Harris County, Texas and was a three-sport athlete, lettering in football, basketball and track.

For his college career, he opted for football and played for the Utah Utes football team of the University of Utah between 2011 and 2014. In his freshman season, he was a starter at the safety position and featured in all 13 games of the season. He finished on a record of 69 tackles, 1 interception and 1 sack. Though restricted to only 10 games in his sophomore year, he totalled 64 tackles and one interception for the 2012 season.

Rowe returned to top form in his junior season as he started all 12 games for the season and finished with 69 tackles and a 0.5 sack. In 2014, he experienced a major career shift as he was moved from safety to the cornerback position. He started in 10 out of 12 appearances for the season and recorded 59 tackles and one interception.

NFL Career

Eric Rowe got drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in round 2 of the 2015 NFL Draft with the 47th overall pick. He signed a 4-year contract with the Eagles in May 2015, marking the beginning of his NFL career.

Rowe was named the third cornerback on the Eagles’ depth chart prior to the start of the 2015 regular season. He put up a pretty good show in his rookie season during which he made only 5 starts in 16 total appearances. He finished the season with 31 combined tackles, 5 pass deflections and one interception.

Eric Rowe got traded to the New England Patriots in September 2018 in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick. He was announced as the 5th cornerback on the Patriots’ depth chart prior to the 2018 regular season. However, his first season with the Patriots was marred by an injury which had him sidelined for the first 5 weeks of the 2016 regular season. The NFL star eventually featured in 9 games (with 7 starts) for the entire season and finished with 29 combined tackles (22 solo), 5 pass deflections and one interception.

Among other highlights of the 2016 season, he featured in the Super Bowl LI in which the Patriots defeated the Atlanta Falcons. The talented player recorded 4 total tackles and one deflected pass in that all-important fixture and also clinched the first Super Bowl Championship title of his career.

Eric Rowe was named the 3rd cornerback on the team’s depth chart prior to the 2017 season. Sadly, he was sidelined by injuries for the greater part of the season and in the entire season, he made 13 combined tackles (12 solo) and 2 pass deflections in 8 games with 3 starts. He was on the starting lineup when the Patriots faced the Philadelphia Eagles at Super Bowl LII on February 5, 2017, however, they suffered a rare defeat in that matchup.

The NFL star was ultimately promoted to a starting cornerback prior to the 2018 regular season but he was out for the greater part of the season, owing to a groin injury. He started 2 games out of only 4 appearances and finished the season with only 10 tackles (9 solo) and one pass deflection. Despite his absence, the New England Patriots made it to Super Bowl LIII.

Family – Parents, Wife

Eric Rowe’s mother Denise Rowe is a real-estate investor while his father Nelson Rowe is a business executive. Interestingly, the NFL star also holds a degree in Business and hopes to toe his parents’ path sometime in the future. Growing up, his family moved around several times owing to the nature of his father’s job. They eventually settled in Klein, Texas, where he was raised alongside his two younger sisters Nicole and Lauren.

Eric Rowe probably has plans of getting married sometime in the future but until that happens, he remains one of NFL’s most eligible bachelors. Though unmarried, Rowe is unofficially unavailable as he is in a longterm relationship with fitness and beauty expert Vanessa Roto. These two have known each other for virtually all their lives. They both grew up in Klein, Texas, and also attended the same high school. From high school, through college and even as he joined the NFL, she has had his back all along.
