She has two siblings; an older brother named Patrick and a younger sister named Bridget. Emmy was only 1 year when her parents moved from New York to Houston, Texas.

When she was 6, she moved from the United States to England and attended The American School of England (TASIS). She moved back again to New York at the age of 11 and was enrolled at the Royal Academy of Dance. She studied ballet for almost 10 years at the school and while at it nurtured her inclination towards the performing arts.
