Élodie Yung is a talented American actress who played the kick-ass character Elektra Natchios in the Marvel Cinematic Series Daredevil and miniseries The Defenders where she portrayed the same role. By doing so, she became the first non-American actress to ever portray the role.

The Parisian actress rode into the spotlight of Hollywood on board French TV series and film projects such as La vie devant nous, Les fils du vent, Mademoiselle Joubert, Les Bleus, and many others.

Élodie Yung was born on February 22, 1981, in Paris, France and she spent most of her growing up time in Seine-Saint-Denis in Le Bourget. The Parisian beauty is half Cambodian from her father’s side and half French from her mother’s side. There is no record of any sibling or her parent’s name. Her high school record is also not known; the only known information regarding her academics is her university education.

She studied Law at the University of La Sorbonne in Paris also called the University of Paris and had the dreams of becoming a Judge one day. While studying law, Élodie wanted to earn extra money, so she auditioned for commercials and was able to land an acting job. This would prove to be a pivotal moment for Élodie Yung as acting became something she wanted to do. She was cast as Jade Perrin in the teenage drama La vie devant nous (2002-2003) when she was 20 years old.

After bagging her law degree, the French beau decided to change career path, which saw her enroll at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts to brush up her skills in acting. During that period, she appeared in her film debut Les fils du vent (2004) portraying Tsu and after that, she went back to TV series, starring in three episodes of Mademoiselle Joubert as Fanny Ledoin from 2005 to 2007. She was featured as Isa in the movie Fragile(s) which premiered in 2007 and then starred alongside Clementine Celarie and Mhamed Arezski in the police drama series Les Bleus as Laura Maurier from 2006 to 2010.

In 2008, the French actress appeared in the movie Home Sweet Home as Marie-Jo and worked on an English action film and a television movie in 2009 as gang lord Tao in District 13: Ultimatum and as Su in Little Wenzhou.

Élodie Yung went on to star in major film ventures such as Operation Casablanca (2010), Let Her (2010), The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011), G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013), 10 Things I Hate About Life (2014), Still (2014), Believe (2014), and Narcopolis (2015).

Her breakthrough year in her acting career would be 2016 which she started with her role as the goddess Hathor in the blockbuster film Gods of Egypt. Following that, Élodie Yung guest starred as Rizpah in Of Kings and Prophets. She also landed a major lead role as Elektra Natchios for two of Marvel Cinematic Universe Netflix series Daredevil (2016) and The Defenders (2017). She appeared in the 2017 action film The Hitman’s Bodyguard as Amelia Roussel, an Interpol agent alongside Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson.

Family – Parents

Élodie Yung whose name definitely has a French pronunciation was born to Cambodian father and a French mother. The name of her parents is not known at the moment as she has not mentioned them or given out that piece of information.

It is, however, interesting to note that at the very young age of nine, her father enrolled her for karate classes where she practiced martial arts for a decade, becoming a black belt in her late teens. The couple, both Marvel actors, announced that they were expecting a child through an Instagram photo taken of Élodie Yung wearing a bikini and arms around her baby bump.

Congratulatory comments were posted by fans and co-stars like Krysten Ritter, Finn Jones, and Mike Colter. On August 2, 2018, they welcomed their daughter Minavann Yung Howard into the world.
