Desi Lydic is an American actress, comedienne and TV host. She joined the team of correspondents on the comedy central news talk show The Daily Show in 2015, after the show’s long-standing host Jon Stewart was replaced by South African comedian Trevor Noah. Prior to their September 2015 recruitment, The Daily Show was often criticised for the lack of diversity in their line up of correspondents. Alongside Dysic, the other correspondents who joined the show are Ronny Chieng and Roy Wood, Jr., both also comedians.
Before joining Trevor Noah on The Daily Show, Desi Lydic had appeared in numerous TV series including the MTV hit comedy series Awkward. The actress played the character of a batty high school guidance counsellor Valerie Marks on Awkward. Desi Lydic was born Lani Desmonet Lydic on June 30, 1981, in Summit, New Jersey, US. However, she grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. She studied at the Young Actors Institute at the Youth Performing Arts School in Kentucky. The actress also studied and performed at prestigious theatre schools The Groundlings and Improv Olympic.
