If you remember Detective Nick Burkhard from NBC’s series Grimm then you already know David Giuntoli. But that is not the only project he has got in his acting portfolio. The American actor, director, writer, and producer has worked on many projects since he started his career in 2003.
David has made brief appearances in series like Grey’s Anatomy, Ghost Whisperer, Veronica Mars, and Private Practice. He has also appeared in many movies like Turn the Beat Around, U.S. Attorney, 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi and Buddymoon, which he co-wrote.
Early Life and Rise to Fame
Giuntoli was born in the Midwest State of Wisconsin, in the city of Milwaukee on June 18, 1980. He was born to his father, David Giunloti who is of Italian heritage and Mary Giuntoli who is of Austrian and Polish heritage. David grew up in Missouri where he attended St. Louis University High School. He has spoken about how his awkward body structure back then ruled him out of athletics. As such, he started getting interested in the world of acting. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in International Business and Finance from Indiana University at Bloomington in 2002.
Despite his degree in business and finance, David never had plans to ply the route of the business world. Post-University, he returned to St. Louis and started training to be an actor with help from his theater teacher from high school.
While working with his teacher and participating in local acting circles, he was spotted by some MTV talent scouts. This led to his first career project as he was cast in MTV’s reality series Road Rules: South Pacific. The filming of the project lasted for three months and he subsequently appeared in its spin-off game show Real World/Road Rules Challenge. His paycheck from these enabled the young actor to take care of his student loans. This further reinforced his determination to pursue a career in acting.
He moved to Los Angeles in 2007 where he joined the Echo Theater Company. Before this, he honed his talent by training under Chris Fields – an acting teacher and director. This led to a slew of appearances albeit minor roles and guest showings on television series and movies including Cold Case, Privileged, Nip/Tuck and Without a Trace. During this period, the actor also missed an opportunity to star in a project that would have definitely skyrocketed his fame. He was being considered for the role of Superman in the rebranded movie Man of Steel, however, he lost to fellow actor Henry Cavill.
Nonetheless, David landed another role that increased his fame and audience in the movie industry. In 2011, he landed on the cast of NBC’s Grimm. He played the lead role in the series as Detective Nick Burkhardt. The series narrates the story of a Police Detective (David Giuntoli) who discovers that he comes from a long line of “Grimms”. The sole mission of a Grimm as Nick discovers is to maintain calm and peace between the world of mythological creatures known as the Wesen, and the world of humans.
The series debuted on October 28, 2011, and ran for six seasons, consisting of 123 episodes and airing its last on March 31, 2017. While he was involved with Grimm, the actor also found time to be involved in other projects such as 2012’s drama Caroline and Jackie. David Giuntoli also produced and co-wrote the comedy Buddymoon in 2016. It tells the story of a former child actor known as David, who is left heartbroken and depressed after his fianceé calls off their relationship days to their wedding. His best friend and best man – played by Flula Borg – then decides to take him on the honeymoon that had already been planned.
David Giuntoli Wife (Bitsie Tulloch)
Giuntoli met his wife, Bitsie Tulloch on the set of Grimm. Perhaps their relationship on the set of the series as Nick and Juliette Silverton was what blossomed into a real-life romance. Their relationship on the series may have been rocky but David and Havard graduate, Bitsie have only grown more in love off the set. They got engaged in April 2016 and had a small, quiet wedding in Montana in June 2017. The couple has lived in Portland, Oregon since the shooting of Grimm.
His Net Worth
The Hollywood actor has definitely done enough in his years in the industry to earn him a sizable net worth. Considering his biggest payday with his lead involvement in Grimm, David’s net worth has been evaluated at $3 million.
Height and Body Measurements
Apart from his height and weight, nothing else is known about the actor’s body measurements. According to various sources, David stands at a height of 1.8 meters (5 feet 11 inches) and weighs 75 kg (165.3 lb).
