Meet Dave Ramsey
He was born on September 3, 1960, in Antioch, Tennessee. There are no records of where he had his high school education but we know that Dave graduated with a degree in Finance and Real Estate from the College of Business Administration at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1982. Afterward, he became a real estate investor with a portfolio worth over $4 million. Tragedy, however, struck when his financier collapsed into a larger financial institution which requested he repay his loans. Dave couldn’t repay this loans and this thought him a bitter lesson in financial management. He filed for bankruptcy as he lost everything he had, he was down – but not out.
During his recovery, Ramsey developed a set of financial principles from his experience and teachings from Larry Burkett, Ron Blue, and Art Williams. His first book titled “Financial Peace” was written in this phase of his life in 1992.
Seeing and fearing that many Americans and indeed most people who are ignorant of financial principles will likely make the mistake he made with his million dollars real estate portfolio, Dave Ramsey sought to offer financial counseling through The Lampo Group, LLC which he founded in 1992.
Following the success of The Lampo Group Inc. which is now called Ramsey Solution, he went on to found other companies like Financial Peace University, EntreLeadership, and Every Dollar.
