Dana Tyler – Biography
The adept journalist was born as Dana Tyler on the 24th day of November 1958 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, United States. She was born to middle-class Afro-American parents whose identities are not known. She is of American nationality and has African-American ancestry. Growing up, Dana spent her early years in the Worthington City of Ohio where she completed her basic education at Worthington High School.
She developed a passion for becoming a journalist when she was very young and this led her to enroll at Boston University where she got a degree in Marketing and Broadcast Journalism. While there, she worked with the school’s media outlet and was able to cover several trending stories at the time.
Upon graduation, Dana Tyler quickly started her career as an intern at WBNS-TV based in Columbus, Ohio. There, she served as a general assignment reporter and newscaster for the network. Her excellent performance on her show called Heart of Ohio earned her an Emmy Award for outstanding Anchor in 1988. After two years, she landed her first gig as a weekend anchor and reporter at WCBS. On joining the New York-based network, Dana became one of the first Afro-Americans to anchor a newscast in New York.
