Dahvie Vanity (Jesus David Torres) has had his fair share of the troubles that come with being famous. While he has been called out for his eerie sense of style and make-up, he has been accused of being a molester and is regarded as a pedophile in several quarters. While he boasts of a huge fan base, a good number of people has expressed that his songs are shitty. This Jesus has tried to fend off his woes with songs like Crucified by Your Lies. Let’s learn more about him, shall we?
Who Is Dahvie Vanity?
Dahvie Vanity is an American pop singer born on September 5, 1984, in North Carolina. He is a member and the lead vocalist of the American band, Blood on the Dance Floor. Dahvie is from a poor family and grew up in a house trailer. There is little information on Vanity’s family, but it is known that his parents have mixed opinions about his musical endeavors.
He has a half-sister whom he shares a close bond with. From childhood, Vanity loved music and dreamt of making it big in the entertainment industry. In 2007, he formed a music band consisting of him and his friends – Christopher Mongillo and Rebecca Fugate. He named it Love the Fashion but later changed it to Blood on the Dance Floor. After working hard to create an album, they successfully produced Let’s Start a Riot.
Unfortunately, it got little to no promotion and failed to impress the masses. They set out again and recorded their next album named It’s Hard to be a Diamond in a Rhinestone World. After some time, Christopher and Rebecca left the band as they couldn’t take part in the tours held in Orlando. After that, others have joined and left Vanity’s band including Garret Ecstasy (McLaughLin), Jayy Von Monroe, and Matty M. By 2009, it was just Dahvie Vanity and Jayy Von Monroe. They produced many hit albums, Epic is one of them. They also toured through America after the album was ranked fifth in the Billboard chart.
Blood on the Dance Floor worked with different artists to release the All the Rage!! album in June 2011. This album became a hit too. In 2012, they released Evolution which is their most successful album thus far. In 2016, he posted on his Facebook page that he has retired Dahvie Vanity, that his new stage name will be Dahvie Insanity because he’s no longer who he was when he started his career.
What Did He Do To Become Famous?
Simply put, he didn’t give up! Dahvie’s fame came with the release of his album Evolution in 2012. This was after some previously released albums failed to make a hit. His determination was remarkable. Other than just pursuing his passion for music, Vanity approached his work meticulously. Despite the rumors about him, he has remained strong and unrelenting. Unlike some artists that are brought down by strong criticisms, Dahvie Vanity has shrugged off all allegations against him and continued his singing career.
There have been accusations of Dahvie sexually assaulting multiple women, mostly underage and these accusations date back to 2007. In fact, reports have it that he was arrested in 2009 for sexual assault and there is even a piece that detailed the claims of all the women he allegedly assaulted.
Dahvie Vanity has been denying it all. Yes, there are always two sides to a story and, it is known that some people (haters) are fond of making up claims just to bring celebrities down. But in Dahvie’s case, these people did not hate him. In reality, they were his fans and friends. Some were even his employees. Were they all paid to make false claims against him? Hard to say.
True or not, these claims don’t look good for the pop singer and it’s difficult to settle on a particular side of the issue for most people. What we do know is that Vanity is maintaining his calm through all of these. He has not become depressed nor taken to drugs to alleviate the pains that come with such claims. He is a strong guy, and as they say, ‘rumors make you or mar you’. Vanity chose to rise to fame with the ongoing rumors. He’s still seen uploading videos and songs on YouTube, his career is far from being dead.
