Colin Farrell’s Biography
Born on 31 May 1976 in Castleknock, Dublin, Ireland, Colin James Farrell hails from a family of athletes. His father, Eamon Farrell, was a professional footballer who played for Shamrock Rovers FC. His uncle, Tommy Farrell, also played football for the same club.
Colin Farrell’s siblings include an older brother named Eamon, Jr. and two younger sisters Claudine and Catherine. Their mother is Rita (née Monaghan).
During his early years, Colin had thought he’d follow in his father’s path but he felt more drawn to entertainment. He unsuccessfully tried out for the Irish boy band Boyzone before Henry Thomas’ performance in 1982’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial inspired him to consider acting. Farrell went to the Gaiety School of Acting but upon receiving his first professional gig in BBC drama Ballykissangel, he dropped out.
A couple of years after beginning his acting career, Farrell earned his first award, a Boston Society of Film Critics for his first lead role in Tigerland. He won a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture for the 2008 film, In Bruges.
Colin Farrell’s net worth has been estimated at $30 million. The bulk of his earnings come from his primary job as an actor. Back in the early 2000s when Farrell just started out, he received 7-figures for a handful of films including American Outlaws, Hart’s War, Minority Report and more. His pay per gig quickly rose and by the mid-2010s, he was earning 8 figures. He scooped $10 million each for Alexander and Miami Vice. A substantial amount of his wealth is tied up in real estate.
His Family Life – Wife, Son and Girlfriend
Colin Farrell has been privileged enough to romance some of the hottest women in Hollywood. He once had a playful wedding with one of his girlfriends but the marriage was not legal, thus Colin Farrell has never really been married. The lady was English actress and singer Amelia Warner whom he met at the premiere of the 2000 period film Quills. Their relationship ended in 2001 and about a decade later, details from Warner’s mouth surfaced of a non-legal wedding they had during one of their vacation trips to a beach in Tahiti. It was merely done in a moment of ecstasy.
As Farrell’s fame rose, he became romantically involved with famous names in the industry including pop star Britney Spears, Playboy cover girl Nicole Narain, model Josie Maran as well as actresses Angelina Jolie, Maeve Quinlan and Demi Moore.
Farell’s relationship with Playboy model Narain was plunged into the limelight in 2006, years after they have split after Farrell sued her for distributing a 13-minute sex tape they made back in 2003 without his consent. After a lengthy court case, the ex-lovers reached an amicable settlement.
Colin Farrell dated Kim Bordenave in 2003. Between 2007 and 2009, he was in a relationship with Irish medical student Muireann McDonnell. He romanced British-American writer Emma Forrest for over a year before moving on to Polish actress Alicja Bachleda-Curuś whom he dated until mid-2010.
In late 2017, reports surfaced that Colin Farrell had been in an on-and-off relationship with a certain brunette named Kelly McNamara for the last two years. They were first spotted out on dates in early 2016 when the lady was referred to as Farrell’s mystery woman. Irish Mirror confirmed that Kelly works as a PA for U2 guitarist The Edge. The publication also revealed that she met with Farrell when the actor was with the band in 2015. Kelly holds a degree from London’s Cass Business School. Colin, for the first time, spoke publicly about his relationship with Kelly during his appearance on Ellen to promote his 2017 film, The Killing of a Sacred Deer.
Colin Farrell is a father to two sons from separate women. His relationship with Kim Bordenave produced a son named James Padraig who was born in 2003 at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, in Los Angeles. Four years after his son’s birth, Farrell revealed that he was diagnosed with Angelman syndrome. The syndrome is a rare genetic disorder that affects the nervous system delaying physical and intellectual development. It also causes speech problems and causes the victim to possess an often excitable demeanour. Farrell’s son only began talking at the age of 6, he revealed during his appearance on Good Morning America in September 2017.
Farrell’s second son, Henry Tadeusz, born on 9 October 2009 is from his relationship with Polish actress Alicja Bachleda-Curuś.
