Claire Catherine Danes was born on in Manhattan, New York City. Her father is Christopher Danes, a photographer and her mother is Carla Hall who is a sculptor and printmaking artist. Claire has one sibling, an older brother who is a lawyer named Asa R. Danes.

For her elementary education, Claire attended Public School 3 and Public School 11. For high school, she enrolled into the Professional Performing Arts School, the New Yord City Lab School for Collaborative Studies, The Dalton School and the Lycée Français de Los Angeles. College was next and she gained admission into Yale University to study psychology but left without the honors as she ditched college after two years to give full attention to her acting career. Claire has appeared in other major projects such as The Hours (2002), Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003), Stardust (2007), Temple Grandin (2010).


Her role in Temple Grandin won her the first Emmy of her career and also the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award. In 2011, she began featuring in the spy thriller series, Homeland which was released in October that year. Claire Danes’ husband is the talented and handsome British theatre and film actor, Hugh Dancy. Hugh is a regular face on NBC series, Hannibal where he plays the role of Will Graham. He was born in England on June 19, 1975, into a family of scholars. His father is Jonathan Dancy, a philosopher/college professor, and his mother, Sara Ann Birley, publishes academic materials.
