From great stars like Tom Hanks on Philadelphia to Heath Ledger in Brokeback Mountain, there have been many great actors that have played gay roles even when they are not. Another of such is Casey Cott whose role of Kevin Keller in The CW series Riverdale has raised questions regarding his sexual orientation.
The character of Kevin Keller played by Casey Cott in the series happens to be the first openly gay character in the history of Archie Comics publications and Cott has interpreted the role so well that fans are desperately eager to know if he is gay in real life. Cott started off as a recurring character, but after the first season of the series, he was soon promoted to a series regular from the second season upward.
Has Casey Cott Been In Any Relationship?
The young actor is currently not married neither does he have children of his own. He is among hundreds of Hollywood stars who keep their private life away from the public and social media and to a large extent, he has succeeded to do so.
He was once said to be dating U.S actress, singer and dancer Stephanie Styles from 2015, but the two are no more together and there is no information regarding a new woman in his life at the moment.
He Enjoys Playing Gay Character in Riverdale?
Following Cott’s perfect interpretation of the role of Kevin Keller in the CW series Riverdale, speculations began going around that the actor may actually be gay in real life. However, despite the passionate kiss he shared with Joaquin and the portrayal of his gay character, the sexual orientation of Casey Cott is not gay in real life. He has never dated any man in the past and he doesn’t see himself dating any in the future.
Although he has indicated that he has now come to love playing a gay character in Riverdale, what he actually auditioned for was to play Archie Andrews and Jughead Jones. He ended up with Keller at the end of the day, and he did not disappoint.
For him, it is just interesting interpreting the character he is not in real life perfectly well and he gives all the credit to the series’ writers, producers, directors for bringing out the best in him and other actors of the series; according to him as actors, it is just up to them to fulfill their (writers, producers, directors) vision for the show.
