Carlos Vela is a professional Mexican soccer player who plays for the country’s national team as a forward. Carlos Vela’s Biography and Age
He was named Carlos Alberto Vela Garrido when he was born on 1 March 1989 in the city of Cancun in Mexico. It was here that he was raised alongside his brother, Alejandro Vela who also plays football in the country. Just as you would rightly guess, he caught a quick interest in football from a very young age playing with his brother. As time and luck would permit, he was able to get a club much faster than his elder brother and that is how he began his journey.

Club Football Career
Carlos Vela began his youth career with Guadalajara in 2002 and he played there until 2005 when Arsenal youth club showed interest in the rising star. This was possible thanks to his appearance at the 2005 Under-17 FIFA world cup which Mexico won and he emerged as the highest goal scorer.
After moving to Arsenal youth team, he was soon moved to the main team but had to go on loan after a short while as a result of permit issues. This took him to Spain where he played for clubs like Salamanca and Osasuna before making it back to England to play for West Bromwich Albion in 2011. 8 caps and 2 goals later, he was back on loan to Spain to play for Real Sociedad who were able to soon make the deal permanent in 2012. From that point until 2017 when he moved to the MLS, he had already recorded 54 goals from a total of 184 games.
National Football Career
His national football career began in 2005 with the nation’s under-17 team. The interesting thing is that this was what changed his career forever as his performance was one of the main things that gave the trophy to Mexico when they trashed Brazil 3 goals to 1 in the finals. He dedicated his golden boot and the trophy to his father who was very instrumental to his life as a footballer and who was himself a footballer until he was forced to retire following an injury.
His call to serve the nation in the under-20 team came in 2007, and his time with the team recorded no goal after 8 games. Still, he got promoted to the national team in that same year. By the time he was invited for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, he had already recorded 18 goals following 67 appearances for the country.
With the Mexican national team, Carlos Vela won some trophies such as 2 CONCACAF Gold Cup and a CONCACAF Cup.

Even though there is no record of a wife or that he has ever been married, the Los Angeles FC winger is known to have a girlfriend and partner in Saioa Cañibano. He met the former sports reporter when he was leaving Real Sociedad and often refers to her as his wife. According to him, although his 7 years with the club didn’t give him trophies, it still gave him a wife.
Even though they have maintained a very private relationship, it is known that they have a son together named Romeo who was born in 2017. Before the birth of their son, they had already had a daughter.
