He also has in his trophy collection seven Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges – MACJC – championships and ten MACJC North Division Championships. His record at the Bowls is 6-0 while his overall coaching record is 98-13, making him the all-time leader in winning percentages (.879) in the NJCAA.

In 2015, Buddy Stephens began to feature in the Netflix documentary series Last Chance U. The first and second season of the show explored the East Mississippi Community College football program in which Buddy was in charge of. It took a look at the lives of the players under the stewardship of coach Stephens and how he was going to be able to help them find structure in their lives, academically and on the field, before they go ahead to transfer to an institution that plays at a higher division.
