Like her father Ron Howard who is an actor and film director, Bryce Dallas Howard is an actress and director. She is also a producer and writer, like her mother, Cheryl. Being born as the oldest child in a family does come with its responsibilities and challenges especially for girls and for Bryce, it wasn’t a different scenario. Despite the fact that she came from a family with a long history of actors, she was restricted from going in the same direction but the passion that burned within saw her sticking to what she wanted and setting her path towards achieving it. Bryce Dallas Howard – Early Life
Bryce Dallas Howard was born in Los Angeles, California and was raised in New York and Connecticut. Her parents are Ron Howard and Cheryl Alley-Howard. She was born on March 2, 1981, and her father, Ron, is a bigtime actor and film director in Hollywood while her mother, Cheryl, is a writer.
She is the first child of the family and she has three other younger siblings – twin sisters, Jocelyn and Paige, and a brother, Reed Howard. Bryce Howard’s talent in entertainment would be said to come from her father, who hails from a lineage of actors and entertainers, so its no surprise she caught the gene even though she was not groomed to follow the pattern.
What that means is that even though they had a showbiz father and were also surrounded by people from the world of entertainment (Tom Cruise was a family friend), Bryce and her siblings were not afforded the freedom other American Children were afforded. They were not encouraged (I think “allowed” should be the word) to watch television at home.
In fact, her parents encouraged them to participate in outdoor activities like sports and other hobbies. Showbiz was not encouraged while she was growing up. However, it is ironical that Bryce actually got her initial exposure to the big screens through her father. Ron, who was a film director would always use her to fill the role of extras in his movies.
Bryce Howard began her high school education at Greenwich Country Day School but did not graduate as she moved to continued her education at Byram Hills High School and graduated in 1999. After high school, she proceeded to the New York University’s (NYU) Tisch School of the Arts and studied there for three years (instead of four) while also taking lessons at Stella Adler Studio of Acting.
She was also taking part in the recording of the Broadway musical, A Tale of Two Cities. She eventually dropped out of NYU when she was in her third year to focus on her career. She attended the performing arts camp, Stagedoor Manor – with fellow actress, Natalie Portman, The Actors Center, New York, and the Steppenwolf Theatre Company’s School in Chicago.
Bryce Dallas Howard kicked off her career as an actress by performing in Broadway plays but she got recognition for her role in the 2004 movie, The Village. That would be her breakout movie role. Film director, M. Night Shyamalan who directed the psychological thriller, spotted her performing in the play As You Like It on the Broadway stage in 2003.
Following the successful interpretation of her role and the positive review she got, she earned another role in 2006 fantasy thriller Lady in the Water. In the same year, she earned her first Golden Globe Award nomination for acting in the film adaptation of As You Like It. She featured in Spider-Man 3 (2007), Terminator Salvation (2009), and as Victoria (a vampire) in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010).
Bryce Howard further sold herself globally with her appearance in the sci-fiction Jurassic Park series – Jurassic World (2015), and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) – and they have been her most financially rewarding movie appearance till date.
Bryce Dallas Howard’s Husband & Kids
Bryce Dallas Howard is off the market as she is married to fellow actor Seth Gabel who she met in 2001 during her aborted college program at the New York University (NYU). They would go on to date before getting married five years later on June 17, 2006. They have two kids already, but Bryce says the kids were not supposed to come at the time they did. She and her husband, Seth had agreed to settle into the business of raising kids and homemaking when they get into their thirties.
That plan was, however, shelved after Bryce found out she had conceived just seven days after they said “I do” and now they have two lovely children. Their first child is a boy who was born on February 16, 2007 and was named Theodore “Theo” Norman Howard-Gabel and the second, a girl, named Beatrice Jean Howard-Gabel. Beatrice was born on January 19, 2012
