Veteran actor Brian Edward Benben was born on June 18th, 1956 in Winchester, Virginia, the USA, to his parents, Gloria Patricia and Peter Michael Benben Sr. There is very little information as regards the childhood and family of Brian Benben due to his desire to keep that aspect of his life tucked away from the ever-prying eyes of the media. Nevertheless, it’s a known fact that he was raised by his parents in Marlboro, New York, and attended a high school in very close proximity to where they lived.

Upon completion of his high school education, he enrolled in Ulster Community College in Stone Ridge, New York and graduated two years later. Fresh out of college, Benben decided to move to New York City, where he slowly perfected his acting skills by performing in several off-off-Broadway theaters’ stage plays, such as; The Tooth of Crime, Gossip, Wild Oats, A Moon for the Misbegotten, The Overcoat and Midsummer Night’s Dream in which he played the role of Bottom.

In 1981, Benben was cast to play the role of Michael Lasker in The Gangster Chronicles, marking his television debut and making him known to a wider range of audience. Later that year, he made his big screen debut in the movie Gangster Wars. In 1983, he proved his diversity by portraying the role of a gay man in the movie drama, American Playhouse: Family Business, before taking up the role of the highly controversial California Senator Tom Hayden in the movie Conspiracy: The Trial of the Chicago.
His big break eventually came in the year 1990, following his role as Martin Tupper on the HBO adult-themed comedy Dream On. For six years he served as the main character on the show until its finale in March 1996. In 2008 he scored what is arguably the second biggest role in his career, portraying Dr Sheldon Wallace in the TV series Private Practice. Ever since then, he has made a reasonable number of appearances on several TV shows such as Scandals, Roadies and Imposters, to name but a few.
