It has been 57 years since the first James Bond film was made after being adapted for the screen from Ian Fleming’s famous spy novels, and the beloved 007 will be returning for the 25th installment in the movie franchise. The Bond films are the longest-running movie series in cinema history and the fourth highest-grossing film franchise of all time with $70.4 billion earned over nearly six decades. Filming for Bond 25 is already underway and audiences everywhere are excitedly waiting for the movie to drop. The plot for the new film has been kept a closely guarded secret, but one thing is for sure: it will mark Daniel Craig’s fifth and final outing as the incredible spy.
The new mission will be filled with the awe-inspiring twists and turns that the franchise is known for. All we know about the plot for Bond 25 which has been titled No Time To Die, is that it will begin with Bond retiring from service and jetting off to Jamaica where he can enjoy a peaceful life. However, his serenity is cut short when a new enemy shows up in town and Bond is called in to try and save the day.
Reasons Behind the Changing Release Dates
The production for Bond 25 has not had the smoothest run. Filming has been plagued with all kinds of issues from former director Danny Boyle leaving the set due to creative differences and the lead actor Daniel Craig sustaining an ankle injury. These issues led to the release date which was originally scheduled for October 25, 2019, being pushed forward.
With Cary Fukunaga now serving as the director for the movie and Daniel Craig fully recovered and back on set, everything seems to be going without a hitch. Bond 25 was then set to be released to UK audiences from April 3, 2020, with the US and beyond getting it from April 8, 2020. However, yet another shift was made; following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, Bond 25 got yet another release date – the 12th of November in the UK and the 25 of the same month in the United States.
