Bess Kalb is an American award-winning screenwriter who is famous for contributing sketches to the late night show, Jimmy Kimmel Live. She also writes for The New Yorker’s Daily Shoutouts. Kalb has expanded her horizon by writing for award shows like The Oscars and The Emmy.

Her works have also been chronicled in other magazines and websites such as GQ, The Nation, Wired, and Grantland. She is also known for comically trolling President Donald Trump.

The American national is a Manhattan native, born on the 8th day of March in the year 1988. Named Bess Bell Kalb, she has a brother named Will Kalb. Her family is Jewish and she belongs to the White ethnicity.

Bess Kalb must have attended one of the high schools in Manhattan, New York where she grew up though there are no records of names of school, year of graduation, or of even the clubs and activities she joined as a high schooler. It would have been nice to know if she started her writing career back in the days. While the details are not available yet, at least we now know that she got her comedic traits from her father.

She mentioned to Buzzfeed that he is the reason she went into comedy. He once annotated a Haggadah with jokes and sent it along with a seder and other items from a grocery store to her and her husband during Passover while they were on vacation.

Bess Kalb graduated from Brown University, Rhode Island in 2009. She had her start in comedy in 2007 after a 4-month internship in New York. Following her graduation, she has continued to work extensively in the genre.

She has contributed to the script, supplying jokes and comedy sketches for the late-night show Jimmy Kimmel Live since 2012.  Her work on the show has also earned her a number of awards and nominations including the Emmy awards for the best writer for Jimmy Kimmel Live and a WGA Award in 2016.

She wrote scripts for the Emmy Awards in 2012 and 2016 as well as for the Academy Awards in 2017 and 2018. As a testament to her mounting popularity as a go-to writer, she has written for magazines and websites including GQ, Grantland, Wired, The Nation, Salon, and The New Republic. Kalb has also written a number of humorous shout outs for the US Magazine, The New Yorker.

Funnily enough, the witty personality included her name as the 30th disappointment in the selection. Her sketches also include What’s Your Password and Lie Witness News – Coachella 2013.

Additionally, she contributed jokes for Hillary Clinton‘s Al Smith Dinner speech. It was believed that the speech cost Clinton her election and for this, Kalb expresses deep regret for contributing to Clinton’s failure in 2016. Similarly, she is also famous for expertly trolling the POTUS, Donald Trump on Twitter. On May 29, 2017, she joined the league of celebrities the president has blocked on the social media platform. Others include Chrissy Teigen, Stephen King, Marina Sirtis, Andy Signore, and Rosie O’Donnell. Bess Kalb joined Twitter in April 2009 and has amassed a following of over 215k.
