Child sexual abuse has sadly become something of a norm in the entertainment industry for the last few years. People coming out and fessing up about their child abuse experiences has seen names like Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey come into the light in a very bad way. In 2017, Alphy Hoffman joined the long list of celebrities indicted for their child sexual abuse sins.
Corey Feldman has been doing some serious name dropping in the last few years and Alphy Hoffman made his list of abusers. Feldman was on The Dr. Oz Show in November 2017, when he revealed that Alphy had abused him while he was a child actor back in the 1980s. Here is everything we know about the man that is Alphy Hoffman.
Sadly, Alphy was never that famous before he got some bad press from the child abuse scandal. There is no information concerning his place and date of birth, his family, or education. He does have a daughter, however. According to reports, she was born in March 1992 or 1993. Her name is Jordan Aleris Wall and it is unclear who her mother is.
Alphy Hoffman has been in the industry for decades, however, and has had a few roles as a producer and casting director. In 1985, Hoffman was casting director for the first season of the series New Love, American Style. It featured stars like Anne Lockhart and Bob Saget. He then became the producer for three episodes of the second season of the TV series. A decade later, he reprised the responsibility of casting director on All My Children 25th Anniversary Special (1995). He was a casting associate in 1996’s comedy, Phat Beach.
Facts About Corey Feldman’s Alleged Sexual Abuser
1. Alphy was the owner of the Alphy’s Soda Pop Club
The Alphy’s Soda Pop Club was a happening place into the 80s for young teenagers. It was designed for actors below the age of 16 to come and hang out and have fun with their friends, dance, drink soda, and party.
The biggest appeal of the club was that parent chaperoning was a little more than nonexistent and the soda was on the house. Feldman said he heard a lot about the place and decided to attend and he loved it. Many teenage celebrity sensations at the time also were regulars at the club.
When Corey was invited by Dr. Mehmet Oz on his show for the second time, he revealed Alphy Hoffman’s name as the third on his list of molesters. Dr. Oz displayed the picture of a man on the show who Feldman revealed to be Hoffman.
Alphy first met Corey when the actor was just 12 years old. He had gone to pick Corey up in his car and take him to the Soda Pop Club. Alphy was the son of Bobby Hoffman, who was then a famed casting director and one of the best of his time. Bobby was responsible for the cast on popular shows like Mork & Mindy, Happy Days, and Laverne & Shirley.
Feldman reveals that at the time to be invited to a Hoffman party was a career highlight in itself. But then to have Alphy come to pick you up himself was beyond euphoric. Things started out great too, Feldman reveals, but subsequently began to take on a darker note. Hoffman managed and ran the club for three years, from 1986 to 1989.
2. Feldman wasn’t the only one who told on Alphy Hoffman
The casting director didn’t have only Corey Feldman’s testimony to worry about. There was also the small matter of Feldman’s best friend from childhood, Corey Haim. These two were teenage sensations of their time and since they bore the same first name, they were fondly referred to as “The Coreys”.
It turns out Haim had done an interview as far back as 2004 that cast a dark shadow on Alphy’s character. In the interview, Haim described Hoffman using some choice expletives. He basically said that the casting director was far from a good person and that he had lost all respect for him. This interview was published by Vice in 2012 and helped to make Feldman’s 2017 reveal much more believable.
The Coreys believe that that was probably the reason behind the way Alphy’s club was structured to eliminate parental supervision.
3. Alphy Hoffman’s real name is not Hoffman
In the beginning, Feldman got on well with Alphy and really saw him as “a really good bud”. It wasn’t until after Feldman had turned 14 that Alphy took advantage of the then teen actor. It was devastating for Corey. And then to worsen the case, he found out that Alphy wasn’t a Hoffman at all. His real name was Alphy Rivas. Also, he was Bobby Hoffman’s lover and not his son.
