For fans of Nickelodeon’s series I Am Frankie, Alex Hook will not be an unfamiliar face. She is a Canadian actress who within a pretty short time of acting, she has grown and achieved her relative big break with a number of TV series to her name both in her home country of Canada and the United States.

Apart from I Am Frankie, she has also appeared in a number of other TV productions such as A Nutcracker Christmas and Handsome Devils.

It was as Alexandra Hook that the actress was born on 5 November 2001 in Toronto, Canada. It was there also that she was brought up until the age of 7 when her family moved to Kingston sometime in 2008. She was brought up alongside an elder brother whose name is still unknown.

Having started acting since she was a child, Hook took on many plays both in school and locally which was mostly as a way for her to develop her acting skills. Some plays she was a part of at the time include Alladin and Little Mermaid. With success in the theater, she decided that she would want to go bigger and so she started seeking out roles on TV.

As her efforts became pronounced, her mother registered her with SoHo Management which is her current management agency. However, like all other actors, when it came to transitioning from theatre to TV, she also had many rejections which she said she had become accustomed to. Soon, she got the opportunity to appear in a number of commercials before she finally got her break on TV.

Alex Hook got her first acting role in 2014 when she appeared in the TV Series documentary, Motives & Murders: Cracking the Case as Polly Klaas and then as Kara in the TV series Handsome Devils.

Her next work came in 2016 when she got the offer to appear as 12 years old Beth in the TV movie, A Nutcracker Christmas. Although her role was very little in the film, she was still able to handle it very well.

What has thus far become her real break as an actress came in 2017 when she got the roles of Frankie Gaines, Eliza Gaines, and Michael in the American drama TV series, I Am Frankie which airs on Nickelodeon. In the series, Alex Hook is an Android girl known as Frankie which now wants to become a real human.

Even though she is still yet to land any mainstream awards for her acting roles, her DoH Vinci and Pixels Movie Promo for Family Channel TV commercial earned her a Joey Award in the category of Age 12 and above.

1. She is multitalented

Her first love since she was a little girl, has always been acting. But then, she also has talent and skills in other things. A lover of sports, Hook played hockey when she was much younger and she now also plays volleyball and soccer.

2. Education

She attended La Salle Secondary School where she was when she got her break-out role. In order to shoot, she was taken away to Miami from school for a long time (6 months). She had tutors who ensured that she was also meeting up with school work.

3. Her interest is in math and chemistry

Contrary to what one may believe that her interest lies in arts, Alex is more interested in chemistry and math than in any other subject. However, for her post-secondary education, she hopes to get a degree that she can integrate into acting easily.

4. How she got her role in I Am Frankie

Before the Kingston native got her role in I Am Franklin, she was asked to submit two tapes; one should have her acting robotic while the other should be more human. A few days after she turned 15, she got the call that she was selected for the title role of the Nickelodeon series.

Before she got the call to send the tape, Hook auditioned for a role in a different Nickelodeon show, Max and Shred which she did not get. But then, she sold herself to the casting team and so they later called her agent at SoHo management, Tammy Godefroy to make the tape and send it over.

Alex Hook has a height of 5 feet 4¼ inches (1.63 m).
