Adam Carolla is an American comedian, radio-television personality, podcast host, actor, film director and best selling author. He is well-known as the host of the popular podcast The Adam Carolla Show, which made the Guinness World Records in 2011 as the “most downloaded podcast” of the year.

As a political analyst, Carolla has equally made guest appearances on a number of notable political talk shows. The all-round media personality has also featured in the reality TV shows Dancing with the Stars (2008) as well as The Celebrity Apprentice (2012).

Adam Carolla was born on May 27, 1964, in Los Angeles County, California. He grew up in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and later, his family moved back to the North Hollywood neighbourhood of Los Angeles. Adam Carolla had his early education at Colfax Elementary School. For his high school education, he studied at Walter Reed Junior High and North Hollywood High School. Upon graduation, his high school diploma was withheld for several years by the school management pending the payment of a library fine.

Growing up, Carolla was faced with a lot of challenges on the home front and as a means of escape, he got deeply involved in sports. He eventually left home at the age of 18 to go start up his own life. He initially enrolled at the Los Angeles Valley College, however, he dropped out after a few years. He then took up several odd jobs in order to make a living. Adam Carolla later enrolled at the Los Angeles-based comedy school The Groundlings and upon graduation, he joined the ACME Comedy Theatre group.

In 1995, Carolla landed a spot on the morning radio show Kevin and Bean (1995-1997) where he played the recurring role of Mr. Birchum. He also landed his first major on-air gig as co-host of the radio call-in show Loveline (1995 to 2005). Adam Carolla later co-created and equally featured on the TV shows The Man Show (1999–2004) and Crank Yankers (2002–2007) both on Comedy Central.

The Adam Carolla Show made its debut on January 6, 2006. After a highly successful 3-year-run, the show was cancelled due to a format shift at the flagship station KLSX. Its final episode was aired on February 20, 2009. Following the cancellation of his terrestrial radio program, Adam Carolla promptly launched the daily podcast The Adam Carolla Podcast on February 23, 2009. The show was initially broadcast on Carolla’s personal website and it scored over 1.6 million downloads in its debut week. The show was also named as the Best Audio Podcast of 2009 by iTunes.

Adam Carolla’s career as a TV host has also been quite successful. In 2005, Adam Carolla created the short-lived television talk show Too Late with Adam Carolla as well as the one-season-long reality TV series The Adam Carolla Project. The media personality had more success as the host of the Spike TV reality series Catch a Contractor (2014-2015).

As an actor, Adam Carolla was the lead actor in the 2007 comedy film The Hammer which was also co-written by him. He also made a brief appearance in the 2009 independent film Still Waiting. The talented actor has voiced several characters in a number of animated series including Buzz Lightyear of Star CommandFamily Guy and Drawn Together. He also voiced the character Wynnchell in the Disney animated film Wreck-It Ralph (2012).

Adam Carolla is married to Lynette Helen Paradise. The couple tied the knot on September 28, 2002. On June 7, 2006, the couple welcomed their first, twins – Natalia Carolla and Santino “Sonny” Richard Carolla.
