Born on April 14, 1996, in New York City, as Abigail Kathleen Breslin, she is the last of three children born to Michael Breslin (father) and Kim Breslin (mother). She was named after Abigail Adams, the second “First Lady” of United States, and has grown to have two nicknames: Abbie, Miss Sunshine.
Interested in acting and singing from a very young age, Abbie didn’t have the opportunity of being schooled formerly; rather, she was homeschooled, getting every support from her parents and elder siblings who are both actors – Ryan and Spencer Breslin.
Her career started quite early when she appeared in a Toys “R” U.S commercial as a chubby three-year-old, melting the hearts of the viewers with her cuteness and innocence. She then made her screen debut at the age of six in the 2002 American science-fiction thriller Signs where she played the daughter of Mel Gibson – a role for which she received commendations.
